3.0 out of 5 stars fascinating premise, September 24, 2007

A page-turner, a spy story about the un-making of Pakistan by blowing up its major dam. Politics aside (and there's plenty of poltiics in here), what fascinated me is that the two major characters are an Indian Jew who migrates to Israel and becomes a leader of Mossad, and his boarding school mate, who becomes a leader of the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), the Indian counterpoint of Mossad. What puzzles me is the role of the IRA in all this, but it is indeed a fun read.
Professor Nathan Katz, author of "Who Are the Jews of India?" (2000).

4.0 out of 5 stars Big ideas, interesting characters, rich detail, May 6, 2008
This review is from: Tarbela Damned: Pakistan Tamed (Paperback)
This compelling page-turner is a rich combination of intricate multicultural detail and sharply drawn human stories. The plot to bomb Pakistan's Tarbela Dam is a suitably grand backdrop for the interplay of the Israeli Mossad, India's RAW and-- surprisingly and credibly -- the Irish Republican Army. Grand international political themes intertwine with emotionally powerful personal narratives that keep the reader riveted until the final chapter. A very good read.

4.0 out of 5 stars Unique storyline & enjoyable, August 4, 2008

Waded into the book with some skepticism based on the back cover. It outlined a very ambitious setting with an alliance between RAW, Mossad and strangely, the IRA. However Anand's proves himself a gifted storyteller when be concocts a believable plot intertwining the three in a in Machiavillian plot by India to prevent Pakistan from turning rouge. I found the book interesting from the very first page.
