Fastway without David King?, July 1, 2000
This review is from: On Target (Audio CD)
Let's see here.. hmmm.. Fastway without David King, really? No disrespect to Eddie Clark but without the outragous range of David King,, the band is not the same. As a bad Fastway is sooo overlooked for true '80s metal band. Eclipse by the "Hollywood Metal Band Scene" (i.e. Motley Crue, Ratt, Cinderella, etc) the bands true "energy" was never really appriciated. What made Fastway a great band was not complex guitar riffs that Eddie thinks are so important, but just the way they played as a "group". Infact, none of Fastways music was really complex at all, just good 'ol rock-n-roll basics, what made it special was the energy of "the group". If you want the real Fastway exsperiance, stick with the first album to start, then Trick or Treat I imagin, or anything with David King as lead singer of Fastway. This album just isnt Fastway,,.

A great album sabotaged by the band's past...., July 1, 2006
On Target is an album that has been misunderstood and unfairly dismissed since its release almost 20 years ago. After 4 marginally successful (at best) albums of bluesy hard rock, Fastway took a drastic turn with this album. After losing their major label contract and everyone else in the band (including longtime vocalist Dave King), Eddie Clarke renovated Fastway with a new line-up and sound. In retrospect, this was probably a bad move. Lea Hart and company proved to be capable musicians, but most Fastway fans believed there was no replacing King. The major controversy here was the severe change in sound. On Target was a slick production full of harmonizers and keyboards. It had more to do with 80s pop metal or AOR than Fastway's bluesy past. Many thought it was great in that context and the album did earn the group some new fans, but the backlash from Fastway's fan base basically sealed the band's fate. Issuing the album under a different band name may have been a better choice, but Clarke probably didn't have it in him to start from scratch a third time (once with Motorhead, once with Fastway and then again with a new project). Recommended for fans of Def Leppard, Prophet, House of Lords, etc..

Fastway's 2nd best effort! A fine 80's release!, March 1, 2005
Fastway with Dave King was very different than this. The sound on here is more 80's friendly in the melodic metal area.I thought Fastway got better without Dave King.Although the Trick or Treat soundtrack they did with him was their best thing ever. This is stilla good album though.
1.Dead or Alive(10/10)This is one of those catchy 80's songs that will get stuck in your head for a while.A great Song!
2.Change of Heart(7/10)Not a bad song.Good metal tune with keyboard use.
3.A Fine Line(8/10)This is a ballad song that's very catchy. If you like the 80's melodic metal sound you'll love this.
4.Two Hearts(7/10)Song starts out slow, but picks up throughout listening to.
5.You(7/10)Another solid track keeping in tone with the others.
6.Let Him Rock(7/10)On par still with the others.
7.She is Danger(10/10)Great track, the album really picks up on this one.A great metal song.Guitar and keyborads sound great.
8.Show some Emotion(7/10)Another ballad attempt.Not bad,Still better than today's music.
9.These Dreams(9/10)A good solid rockin song!
10.Close your eyes(9/10)This one really grows on you.A great ballad.Done very tastefully.A real grabber this song is.
Fastway is a good band, and this is a good album by them. It's better than The Bad Bad Girls album, but the Trick or Treat soundtrack is their best body of work. Buy that with this one and you'll have all you need. And if you like those then buy every fasway album because in the end each one is good and appealing in it's own way. It's good 80's metal so buy it!
