Caution!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Targeting Pronunciation: The Intonation, Sounds and Rhythm of American English (Paperback)
This is a really good book, but be careful. Don't buy the $33 version of this book (ISBN 0-395-90331-9). It ONLY includes the Book. Buy the $42 version of this book (ISBN 0-395-94540-2). That is the Package Edition, and includes both the Book and the Audiocassettes.

Sue Miller is specifc and detailed,
By Ian D Stern (India) - See all my reviews This appears to be the best book I have come across. It is very detailed and easy to understand and beats the current book and CD offerings like American Accent training. A definite must buy if you are into accent reduction for individuals or training. This a great step-by-step approach to pronunciation,
By Tall Bamboo "tall bamboo" (Santa Monica, CA) - See all my reviews It has a fun and clear approach to covering all the essential pronunciation features such as word stress, rhythm patterns, and thought groups, as well as consonant and vowel sounds. Students enjoy using this book and tapes because of the engaging and varied activities. Whether you are experienced or inexperienced at teaching pronunciation, Targeting Pronunciation a great book to teach from. I recommend the book and audiocassette package: ISBN 0-395-94540-2. It's the best deal and each student has a set of tapes for home practice.

the book covers many of the topics that non native speakers want to improve. I like it, my pronunciation teacher recommended us this and we worked through all the chapters, and now is easy to understand and speak more clearly; because you can find out the different sounds, vowels, consonants and phonics that made a huge difference when you are trying to communicate with others. just keep practicing at home with the cd's, and everywhere paying attention to people articulation, linking, and pronunciation, it helps a lot. I am a native Spanish speaker, and I'm trying to reduce my very strong accent and this book and the class have helped me a lot. :) I'd really recommend this book.

Book is great guide for all who have difficulties with pronunciation BUT ONLY if it is accompanied with CD.
Book price is 33 usd and with CD, price goes to 120 usd. Many may not afford to buy CD. Without CD one may have good use of this book only throughout the languuage course but latter it becomes useless. Pitty.

The book was in perfect conditions as advertised. What I most liked was the CDs. The 5 CDs were there.
