Rugged Style with a Waterproof Nubuck Upper

The Targhee II offers a sleek-and-sporty style and a lace-up front for a custom fit. This low-profile shoe stands up to any trail conditions and looks good doing it, thanks to a durable, waterproof nubuck upper with stitching accents and pops of bright color on the laces and around the heel.

Breathable Moisture Protection with Keen.Dry

To keep you treading comfortably on all kinds of terrain, the Targhee II features a Keen.Dry insert. This waterproof membrane offers an additional barrier against moisture yet is breathable enough for all-day comfort.

S3 Heel Support

S3 stands for Shock, Suspension, and Stability and refers to Keen's unique heel-support structure. S3 is engineered to support the foot on impact, which dissipates shock, helping to prevent injury to the ankle.

Keen Metatomical Footbed and EVA Midsole for Support

For comfort and support that won't quit, the Targhee II features a removable, dual-density EVA footbed that provides arch support by hugging the natural contours of your foot. The compression-molded EVA midsole extends the benefits of the footbed and adds an extra spring to your step.

ESS Shank Reduces Foot Fatigue

To keep you going longer, the Targhee II has a torsional-stability ESS shank in the midsole. This shank helps to stabilize your foot as you move, minimizing fatigue, so you can enjoy every moment as you push on to the next crest.

Multi-Directional Lugs for Greater Traction

To give you a steady grip on all kinds of terrain, the Targhee has 4-millimeter, multi-directional lugs on its non-marking rubber outsole. These lugs are spaced wide apart to "bite" into the terrain, giving you more dependable traction on slippery and uneven surfaces.

Patented Toe Protection

Because rocky objects and debris can trip you up on the trail, the Targhee II includes Keen.Protect, patented toe protection that wraps up and over the outsole for thorough coverage of the entire toe bed.

Keen: A Story of Hybrid Innovation

Keen began in 2003 with an inspired sandal design that combined comfort and toe protection. This radical design departure for sandals spawned the overriding Keen philosophy of hybrid innovation--striving to create new possibilities and to discover and implement original ideas.

Keen products put an emphasis on the joys of play. At the same time, Keen believes in the value of working hard to give back to the community. To that end, the company has partnered with non-profit organizations around the world to help get youth into the outdoors, protect land for its environmental and recreational value, and to give bikes to kids in need.

When I first found these boots I was so pleased with the comfort and wider toe box. I had never tried on Keens before. I bought these boots, and I hike daily in the mountains near my home, and the cushioning and comfort were great. Unfortunately, within two months the darker rubber part of the soles began separating from the main sole, so I took them back. I do have two other pairs of Keens that I love, though it would be nice to have hiking boots with the comfort of Keens that would last.

I bought these shoes at a national outdoor store chain 9 days ago. I've worn them everyday since and I must say they are extremely comfortable. Nice wide toebox, secure lacing system, very waterproof and breathable, aggressive lugs on the sole...

It's just too bad the sole won't stay on. NINE DAYS. That's it. That's all I got to wear them before the outsole started separating from the midsole like many of the other reviewers reported.

Luckily, the store is nearby, and I was able to walk in and return them. They had one more pair in my size, and I was going to wear the new ones home...

Except I couldn't lace them up. The top left shoelace hook on one of these Targhee mids was manufactured BACKWARDS. The hook was facing the front of the shoe, making them impossible to tie.

The store offered a refund or exchange for another half size up which was too big. Since I was already 0 for 2 on these Chinese-made Keens, I went with a German-made boot at a $75 premium. Here's hoping for a boot that'll last more than a week, eh?

This is my third pair of this boot. I really like this boot. Fits very well around my foot. It's stable around my ankle. The toe protection is outstanding for light duty dirt kicking, but not steel toe. The waterproof is somewhat true, my foot doesn't get wet, but after walking in a few puddles of water or wet lawns I do feel an increase of moisture (not water) around my foot, which is awkward.

I didn't have any issues with the first pair, and I was very happy to be able to purchase my second pair. The second pair was great at first, and I would give the boot 5 stars if it weren't for one issue.
    1. Some of the treads on the bottom of the boot come dislodged, but they don't completely fall off. They dangled on pair number two within a relatively short time after purchasing, I could have returned them, but this issue didn't affect my ability to use the boot, so it wasn't worth my time.

The third pair (currently for this review) is holding up well. However I noticed the strap that you use to pull your boot on at the back of the shoe with the reflection material, is stitched opposite from the other shoe, which is maybe why this shoe cost less at the time I purchased.

When you build a product you should try and perfect it and I believe Keen was on their way to perfecting this shoe, which is why I purchased my second pair. The quality control is not there and if they can figure that part out, then this would be a 5 star boot, I thought they would have improved their quality control with pair number 3. Again these are all minor issues. My biggest concerns are fit and how well these shoes hold up to 10 hour days, they do well and last several months.

These are absolutely terrible boots that don’t last, the customer service rep even told me that the tarhegee II was not made for hiking. How is a hiking boot not made for hiking? the soles came off at just about every point on the shoe within 30 miles, and when I contacted them they made me go through all these hoops, they finally agreed to send a new pair of boots but a different model ( I cant recall which one). upon receiving the boots in the properly named box, I assumed it was the boot I was told I was going to receive. after hiking 30 miles in white mtn. national forest I contacted them again and told them my boots were falling apart. It turns out they sent me a less expensive boot from the ones I originally bought. they insisted that I send them pictures of the inside of the toungue to observe the tag. the funny thing was it was just a white square ( it was like this as soon as I bought it, but did not suspect any foul play would occur) with that and the fact that the boots were already destroyed, I sympathized with them that this in fact was the boots they sent me and this was the wear that had occurred. they then started to accuse me of lying to them and trying to scam them for a free pair of boots and really insulted me. I could not believe what I was hearing from them and the situation I was in. after that I vowed to them that I would make sure I would do what I can to make sure other thru hikers would not go through the same ordeal. I was very displeased with the whole experience.

Have purchased this exact shoe before and had no problems but barely one month later this pair is falling apart. To make matters worse, we are past the 30 day return window so I'm stuck with them. Have tried to speak with customer service at Amazon to see if I have other options, but cannot find any contact information on this site. What a pain.

Updated Review: I found where to contact customer service with my problem and received quick response to resolve the problem. I would rate Amazon's customer service as excellant.
