Great Lightweight Sling or Sholder bag for 9" & 10" Netbooks!,
By
This review is from: Targus 10.2 Intersection Netbook Case (Personal Computers)
I bought a Netbook for the same reason you did: They're cheap, and so I don't have to lug around a 10 pound notebook and accessories when all I need to do is surf the web or do a PowerPoint presentation. Netbooks are the equivalent to the Ultralight backpacking concept, so it doesn't make sense to use a normal sized, 2-LB bag/pack/sling/messenger to carry the device. No matter how small a carry bag I've tried, they are all just too big for my EeePC901 Netbook, along with a small Logitech mouse and a presenter. On the other side of the spectrum, a neoprene skin might provide a little protection, but it makes a poor carry solution. In fact, I really don't want to carry my netbook in my hands at all... I want to sling it or shoulder it, but do it in a ultra compact way...maybe even under my jacket... Ta Da!... Here is the solution!
The nice thing about this design is the little extra material going up the backside of the main case body to the straps... It utilizes an old-school method used by firearm holster manufacturers that keeps the case from shifting front to back, bouncing off your side, and significantly increases the comfort over that of a squared off corner bag. My buddy has an ASUS 1000HE, and it fit perfectly. I tried my smaller 901 in it and though it had a little extra room, it didn't seem to shift around too much, so it is good to go for the 9" models as well as the new 10" models. With my ASUS Skin on my netbook, it fit even better and didn't shift at all. For the price, this is highly recommended for those who like me, want to sling a netbook without the size and weight of just about all the other small packs/slings/messengers out there. Here are the specs from Targus' website PDF Spec Sheet. Note the 10.5oz weight... very nice! (I'm only posting these specs since Amazon hasn't posted any info on this yet). I also posted photos from the PDF (Note there is a redish (brick?) color available as well for those who are interested in something other than black). Very tight fit for Acer Aspire One (6 cell),

This is a nicely conceived case, but if you have a 10.2" netbook you might want to think twice. I tried this model with my Acer Aspire One, 6-cell version, and it just barely squeezes into it, basically making the the external pouch too tight to get in anything much else. The Targus TNC101US Sport Netbook Case for up to 10.2-Inch Netbooks may be a bit bulkier, but it is much easier to slip my particular machine in and out of, so that is the one I ended up deciding on. You can use this case with the Acer but I suspect the difficulty of getting the machine in and out of it would soon send you looking elsewhere. Since the 6-cell battery adds an appreciable extension to the machine, I suspect it would be fine with the 3-cell version.

Great Compact Case For Larger Netbooks,

This review is from: Targus 10.2 Intersection Netbook Case (Personal Computers)
I snagged this bag for the netbook I bought the wife to take to Europe -- hoping she could carry the computer and use it as a purse as well. The bag is a bit small to make that happen, but it does work well if all you want to do is carry your netbook and a few accessories.
Pros: Not huge. Well constructed. Gender neutral. Cons: Forget carrying lots of accessories -- a smallish AC adapter, power cord and a small mouse are a tight fit. Strap adjuster often moves when you bump it. The circular carabiners attaching the strap can open on their own, causing a nasty drop.

I travel for a living and use my netbook to keep in touch with my family. I've been using my netbook carry case for about a month now and so far I love it. It has just enough space to carry my mini mouse & charger in the smallest pocket & the netbook in the largest pocket. (I'm not sure a full size mouse would fit in the small pocket and there's definitely no room for document storage)
I love that it has a stiff casing that keeps my netbook from getting damaged so easily. The case only being about 10" wide by 13" long with a nice long strap that crosses over my chest and allows me to be hands free and lets the case lay fairly flat against my side as I walk is perfect. I barely even know it's there. I am headed out to the airport in the morning and I think its going to be fast & easy to remove and re-insert the netbook when going through security. This item is very well made including the heavy nylon strap with metal clips instead of plastic for attaching the strap to the carry case and metal eyelets on the case itself. This gives me the confidence that I will not drop my netbook due to broken clips or unraveled stitching.

Almost Perfect Netbook Case,

I looked long and hard before buying a netbook in November of '09. Found a great deal on an HP Mini 110 with a 10.1 LED LCD backlit screen and was thrilled with it. Now the task at hand was to find a case that would protect this little jewel from me slamming it around my truck, since this was going to be my traveling friend when I wanted to do a single task or surf at the local coffee shop to do some tech support for a client.
I didn't want a HUGE bag that cost $100 and weighed 2x the netbook and the Targus 10.2 Intersection was the BEST FIT I could find. PROS- The "fireman's bag" style of carry is PERFECT for this kind of task. It hugs your body, and you can easily mount and dismount it from your shoulder. The nylon cloth is NOT as beefy as I would like, but it is functional and will definitely last longer than I need/expect. The two zippered pockets work well but are skimpy for more than the netbook in the large one and the power cord in the front one. You could probably put some papers in the rear pocket in a pinch, but forget having a spare USB, RJ-45, Firewire cable of any size with you if needed. CONS- The biggest con is the minimal protection for the LCD screen. The padding on this is about 1/4 inch in all directions (back of the bag and between the back and front pouches). I flip my netbook's screen side to the REAR so that it is protected from a crushing blow from the power brick/cord that is carried in the front pouch (a better design would be a third narrow pouch from front to back that would not come into play). There needs to be either additional padding to the back or maybe a hardened surface that can better protect the screen. Second con is the rings that connect the strap to the bag. The spring that keeps the round clips closed are wimpy and another reviewer mentioned that they can unexpectedly come unhooked and drop your bag on the ground. I've taped them with ductape until I come across some screw together carabineers to replace them. Third con is limited storage space, but I don't consider that a serious flaw. This is meant to be a light carry bag and I have a full-size Targus if I really want to carry a bunch of crap on a trip. Overall, I have been pleased with this product EXCEPT for the concern for the safety of LCD screen. Looks WAY COOLER that the little dorky briefcase bags that are sold for netbooks and more protection than the totally worthless "skins" that you will pay as much for. I'll cut a piece of Formica and stick it in the back of the bag for additional protection and go on down the road. 4 STARS! and recommended. Also considered CaseLogic bags. (Video Review SOON!).

It's a beautiful case and very durable. Unfortunately I needed it for a netbook and my many netbook accessories, like a mouse, cables and a headset. The case held the netbook fine, but the pocket in the front is too tight to hold anything thicker than some paper.

The case is good quality but it's too tight, not room enough for carrying everything (charger, mouse or extra battery). I don't use it anymore because of that. If you only want to carry your netbook this is a good choice, but if you need room for more stuff I really don't recommend it.

Just What I Needed,

This case fits my iPad2 and wireless keyboard perfectly. I like the way it hangs vertically, sort of like a purse. It's not too bulky but I can also fit my Kindle or journal in there if I need to (but not both without it being too tight). The only thing I would change about it would be the way the strap attaches to the bag itself. The rings come open too easily and it almost came off my shoulder yesterday because the strap slipped out of the latch without my knowing. I'm confident my iPad would have been unharmed because of all the padding, but it's still unsettling to think it would have hit the ground if I hadn't caught it. I will keep a little closer eye on those rings from now on. All in all, I am very satisfied with it and would purchase it again if I had it to do over because I couldn't find anything else that fit my needs so perfectly.
