4.0 out of 5 stars How to look like a pro (even if you're not), September 21, 2007
This Targus notebook case is a great way to carry around all your stuff and still look cool, professional and ready for action.

The good stuff:

1. It can fit notebooks up to 17" securely and safely. There's a strap to hold your equipment in place, it's nicely padded and has an adjustable inner wall for extra snugness. It even opens like a briefcase for easy packing.

2. The same compartment has three pockets with Velcro closures, a zippered mesh pocket and some slots for letters, warranty cards or other documentation. There's ample space for a mouse (optical, cordless, furry with tail), flash drives, cds and dvds, cords, headphones, bells and whistles.

3. The zipper for the notebook section can be locked with a padlock.

4. The front flap has an easy fastener, and also has a zip pocket, right at the front of the bag, perfect for passport and tickets when traveling

5. Lift the flap for another compartment, and more pockets, with slots for pens, glasses, keys, and whatever else you like to carry around.

6. The back has a padded Velcro-closing pocket for newspapers, magazines or other reading matter.

7. Yet another zippered compartment has two slots for important documents and not so important documents.

8. The handle is tough rubber, defying you to mess with it, and the bottom and sides are protected with a corrugated rubber strip. You can set this one down on the floor - it can take it.

9. Even if you aren't carrying around a laptop all the time, this case works fine as a large briefcase for work or travel, with lots of room for a change of clothes, product samples, toiletries (make sure they adhere to airline safety regulations), files, manuals, snacks, extra undies and more.

The other stuff:

1. If you have a 17" laptop, there's not enough space in the padded section to hold your power cord, but there are so many other compartments and pockets that this shouldn't pose a major problem - other than remembering where you put it. (There's plenty of space for a bottle of Ginkgo Biloba)

2. It's pretty durn heavy to lug around, especially for those already having to contend with a full handbag, cup of coffee and high heeled shoes

3. The generous number of compartments encourages you to carry around more stuff than you need - just in case of emergencies. (And then of course you can't remember where you packed them in the first place)

4. It tends to fall over if you don't put it down carefully or lean it against something.

5. The strap looks a little cheap compared to the rest of the case, and keeps spinning around, so you always have to check that the padded piece is on the inside, but it's easier to carry it by the handle anyway.

Sturdy, roomy, comfy and a tad bit clunky, but overall a good case for larger notebooks, work or travel.

2.0 out of 5 stars Too Cumbersome, November 3, 2006
Bag is "designed" to handle a 17" lap top but, they forgot to tell you that if you carry a 17" it will not accomodate the power cord and brick. Found multitude of pockets distracting it was like a frustrating treasure hunt when I wanted to find something quickly. When filled, bag is lop-sided and continually falls over rather than set upright like other cases. Not very impressed.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best Notebook Case, May 1, 2009

I've had several cases... and this is by far the best. I like it better than the $250 Tumi case I have. Just so practical. Love the clamshell design so you just lay the case flat and set the computer in, rather than slipping it in sideways from the top. Good storage, compartments, and excellent protection. The large one can fit a 17" laptop, but also has a piece to secure a smaller laptop in place.
