Nice charger that works with iPods, iPads, and iPhones.

The plug itself is pretty much the depth of the cigarette socket, so it doesn't stick out when it's plugged in.

I've loved having this in my car to charge my iPad and iPhone on the go.

This is a sensibly engineered car charger for your iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch. Probably works on anything with a dock connector, but I can't test that. Might even work on anything with a USB connector, such as a Kindle, but I can't test that.

Three good things:

1) The USB cable is separate, so you can substitute another cable if it breaks down, or if you want to try charging something with a USB cable that doesn't have a dock connector.

2) The cigarette lighter plug is small and nearly less flush with the well, so it doesn't stick up and get in the way.

3) The cable is black, so it doesn't stand out against a car's dark interior. This could be a disadvantage if you have trouble finding things, but I see it as an advantage.

So: a simple item that works and is well-designed. I'd pay my own money for it if I hadn't received it via Vine.

Highly recommended if it fits your needs.

This works well as a car charger. I had other chargers I could hook my iPad into the USB slot on them but apparently they did not generate enough power. This one does and works very well.

Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
This car charger works on all our houses iDevices which include the iPhone4, iPhone3GS, iPhone3G, iPod Nano. It is very nice and compact. When plugged in to the car without the cable attached it is nearly flush the dash. There is just enough space to get your fingers on it to pull it out. Without the cable in place you barely notice the plug. This is nice both aesthetically and if for safety since it is less noticeable to would be thieves. The plug has a small white/opaque light that turns on when it is charging. The included cable is just like the USB plug that you use on your computer. It is 3 feet long and black and has a slightly thicker sheath then the Apple made ones. The cord seems a little stiff at this point but, it may just be new. It does not use the older pinch release where it plugs in to your iDevice. The only potential down side to this thing is that on other car chargers I have seen there is always a way to replace the fuse that may burnout. There doesn't seem to be a way to do that in this unit. This may be a non-issue as I have never or have heard of anyone ever having to replace a fuse.

This iPad charger is good, I like that it's slim and low profile and can stay plugged in with out sticking out at all, essentially adding a USB port to your car. Looks good... however I drive a Honda ridge line and when I plugged this in it worked fine, but there is a cover/door that covers the outlet of the truck and this charger sticks out enough to prevent the door from closing all the way which takes away from the "hidden" and "slim" look. The charger works and looks good, but I took away a star because it isn't slim enough to say plugged in. Also a minor issue, the cord is very thin. It works great but I would like to see a thicker cord.

This is a very good charger for any USB style device that needs charging. The charger portion is small and almost fits flush to the top of the charging socket it is plugged into. This means that it is out of the way and you do not have an inch or more of the body of the charger sticking out over the console of your car. The flush design is nice as I have multiple charging sockets in my vehicle like one inside the console that I don't want to have a charger protruding from. The USB connection on the car plug allows you to use the cable that comes in the kit to charge your Apple products. In addition you can use any USB charging cable to charge your other devices that you own as long as they use 5 VDC and less than 2.1 Amps.

This charger will charge an Apple iPad 2 or the new one, and also very quickly charges an iPad first generation, iPhone or iPod. It has the charging capability of 2.1 Amps which is 2.1 times more power than the standard 1 amp required for an iPhone or iPad. This means you get a fast recharge time and you are back into business. When you arrive at your destination your devices are fully charged and ready to go even though you may have been talking on the phone during the trip. We use this on multiple devices but to give you an idea of the power, it charges our iPhones about 1% per minute so even if you are on a short trip to the store and your phone is low it is worthwhile to plug it in and get a quick charge.

I have purchased a lot of Targus products and I am always impressed with the quality of the items I have purchased. There are a lot of knockoffs out there and I suggest buying a name brand you can trust. We actually own two of these and we use them every time we travel. I recommend it to you as a good product.

Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
As other reviewers have noted, this is a pretty solid little device, and handy for charging i-stuff in the car, but my own experience with it suggests it might not be 100% reliable for all makes and models of cars, maybe 90%, depending on what you're driving. I used it fresh out of the package to charge my iPod in my 2002 Volkswagen Passat (hardly an antique), and it worked pretty good the first time, albeit with intermitten dropouts (as indicated by the iPod's power-up tweet going off a couple of times. That made me wonder if the unit was not pushed far enough into the cigarette lighter, but wiggling it in further only turned the lighter element ON!! Thankfully my hand was on the plug the entire time and I could feel it heating up unnaturally, and yanked it out early. Repeated attempts to charge the iPod in my car have been likewise hit and miss, but rather than disparage the unit, which I think is fairly decent for the price, I tested it on my parents car (an '06 Fusion) and a friends SUV (an '09 Landblaster or some such), and it appeared to work fine in all cases, with only an extra power-up tweet in the SUV. That could be an issue, since hearing a second or third tweet suggests your iPod actually stopped getting power from the charger at some point. I also wish the USB cable was a little longer, since it doesn't really reach very far into the passenger seat area, where a passenger might like to use a device while it's charging, possibly while reclining a bit, but as others have mentioned, you can substitute pretty much any cable you might already have in times of need. Still, these are relatively minor things to look out for. Otherwise, this is a pretty good unit for the price.
