5.0 out of 5 stars Nice case, lightweight, fits well
I bought this case to replace a similar one from Targus that I bought about 10 years ago and for which the zippers finally wore out. This case is similar to my previous one but is less rugged. In particular, the fabric seems thinner and the bottom of the case lacks the reinforcing hard plastic bumpers that my old one had.

There are some really nice features in this bag. It appears to be sturdy and well made. The pockets are adequate for several files and office essentials, my quart bag of hygene products, and my jacket.

I probably would have kept the bag except that the material was so rough that it irritated the back of my arms and neck. I'm a smallish woman, so a larger...

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice case, lightweight, fits well, September 15, 2009

This review is from: Targus Checkpoint-Friendly Corporate Traveler Backpack for 15.4 Inch Laptops CUCT02B (Black) (Personal Computers)

On the plus side, this model is lightweight and fits my small-to-medium frame better than my old one did. (The straps on my old one seemed designed for a beefier person than me; they were set so wide that they tended to fall off my shoulders unless I cinched them up tightly.) And like my old one, this case has the internal air cushions that cradle the laptop and give excellent impact protection. My old case safely transported by venerable Dell across continents for many years; I hope this model endures so well.

On the down side, I wish this case had more interior pockets. While it has plenty of raw space for things like chargers, spare batteries, calculators, and office items, there are few ways to organize stuff effectively. I wound up buying some vinyl zipper bags to segregate items within the accessory pocket.

All in all, a nice case ... and the zip-through feature works great. On a recent trip through Atlanta and Miami International, TSA seemed knowledgeable about the zip-through feature and didn't balk at all, which saved me a lot of time and aggravation going through security.

4.0 out of 5 stars Targus CUCT02B, October 15, 2008
This review is from: Targus Checkpoint-Friendly Corporate Traveler Backpack for 15.4 Inch Laptops CUCT02B (Black) (Personal Computers)
This is the 2nd Targus backpack I have bought for my husband. I did a lot of research on various brands. He loves this one and it's reasonably priced. The style is simple but very functional. Very good quality and great for a lap top. I'd reccomend this to anyone in the middle age group as the style is subtle but yet handsome.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just what I needed!, September 12, 2009
This review is from: Targus Checkpoint-Friendly Corporate Traveler Backpack for 15.4 Inch Laptops CUCT02B (Black) (Personal Computers)
I travel Monday through Thursday every week, and going through security and protecting my back are both concerns. This backpack has been perfect for keeping me comfortable, organized, and whizzing through security, since I just unzip the middle and send it on through. The only annoying thing is that just because I'm ready to go through doesn't mean the people struggling in front of me in line are!

4.0 out of 5 stars Solid Backpack for Travel, April 16, 2010

This review is from: Targus Checkpoint-Friendly Corporate Traveler Backpack for 15.4 Inch Laptops CUCT02B (Black) (Personal Computers)
Had backpack for month; several domestic and one major international trip. Zip-thru work well in US checkpoints but not at international airports (London, Amsterdam, Brussels and Munich; must pull laptop). Not as many compartments as other backpacks, but looks more professional when attending business meetings (all black, minimal zippers). Getting files in and out is a little more difficult than typical laptop briefcase. Also note that when packed will not fit under some International coach seats (due to entertainment systems controls) or regional jets seas. Fits easily into the overhead. Easy to carry on your back and also on rollaway suitcase.

Overall, very good product; would recommend to others who travel or like a backpack vs. briefcase style.

I shopped around for a good backpack including some high end ones. Targus has always been known for making solid PC bags as I still have some from 10+ years ago and they are just fine. I am very happy with this Tagus bag as I travel on a train and it makes it easy to get on a off or to runn for a train.

Bought this bag for my wife for Christmas and she has been happy with it. The bag has lots of compartments and works well when going through the security lines at airports.

I probably would have kept the bag except that the material was so rough that it irritated the back of my arms and neck. I'm a smallish woman, so a larger person may not have the issues with rubbing.

I returned the bag and purchased the Case Logic check-point friendly bag which I like very well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Strong performance - Targus-Thru Corporate Traveler Backpack, September 17, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Targus Checkpoint-Friendly Corporate Traveler Backpack for 15.4 Inch Laptops CUCT02B (Black) (Personal Computers)
I've had this Targus backpack now for about six weeks and I'm very pleased with the results. I purchased it mainly as a way to haul daily my HP Elitebook laptop, along with various office material - folders, presentations, pens, etc. My laptop is snug and secure (I had previously bought a Briggs and Riley sleeve, which I use in tandem with my Targus bag). It's performed nicely. There are just enough compartments for a moderate load of daily work - three folders, a notebook, power supply, mouse, Mp3 player, external hard drive and a network cable comfortably fit. The black balistic material has held up and looks sharp in the office.

I've traveled through airports three times - including Hartsfield International - and used the zip-thru feature. It allows you to "butterfly" open the backpack, so that the laptop can be screened without removing it from the luggage. This is a handy feature that allows you to more quickly collect your things while you're putting your belt and shoes back on. No more zipping/unzipping, loading/unloading of the computer. When I'm not traveling through the airport, the "butterfly" compartment - the small space between the laptop and the main compartment - can be used for light items, like a newspaper or a folder, for those times when you need just a little more room.

There are a nice collection of small, outside pockets where you can stash coins, pens, tickets and water bottles, so you don't have to dig through the main compartment.

I had used a softsided Land's End brief case before, but I find this much more convenient and comfortable for use on a daily basis. I highly recommend this product.

5.0 out of 5 stars Zip thru a must these days! Backpack better than briefcase version., June 6, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Targus Checkpoint-Friendly Corporate Traveler Backpack for 15.4 Inch Laptops CUCT02B (Black) (Personal Computers)
I like Targus. This replaced the old Targus bag that wasn't a zip thru that had given me 5 years of trouble-free service. After watching enough people go through the airport without problems, I decided to give it a try since it was a zip-thru.

It revolutionizes the airport security checkpoint process. Now with just unzipping the backpack in half, and laying it flat, it goes through the checkpoints without a problem. Wish they could figure out something with the rest of the process like that!

Otherwise, it's a standard Targus bag with your typical good Targus features. It's got the ballistic nylon (you'll pay about $20 more for this version than the non-corporate). And it has tons of secured pockets and zippers like the old one did -- it's the right size, fits under seats without problems in 737s and the smaller regional jets.

At the same time as this, I also bought the briefcase version of it -- I wanted to see if I could get away from the backpack "look" and be more professional with that one. The briefcase is functionally smaller, because of the layout of the pockets. I find that with today's plethora of electronics, and odd-sized chargers, headphones, etc., that the briefcase isn't as good as holding objects as the backpack. For instance, my noise cancelling headphones and it's case are too thick for the briefcase's sections. I could cram it in, but couldn't fit my book and 8.5 x 11 papers in it, too.
