This case is of very high quality. There is padding around the entire bag. Total, there is about one inch of padding on each side of where the notebook is stored.

The clips that allow the bag to be hung around the shoulder are metal so they will not break off in the future after long use. Although metal clips sound like a small detail, they are really very important: in the past, my notebook case had a plastic clip that broke off as I was swinging the case over my shoulders; don't let this happen to you. All the zippers on the case are made of metal as well. If the metal clips or the zippers break, the case is backed by a lifetime warranty. Thank you Targus!

The pocket that holds the notebook is very well padded. I have a Dell Inspiron 2200 with a 14.1 inch screen that fits very nicely. The case can probably hold notebooks up to 15 inches with no problems. The pocket that holds the notebook also has a small Velcro strip that goes across the notebook after it is put in. The zipper on the notebook pocket has two holes that a lock can go through.

There are 4 separate zippered compartments total. One is designed to hold papers and folders but is not large enough for a binder. One holds the notebook. The other two pockets can hold cables, a mouse, and other miscellaneous objects. I always carry my notebook, a mouse, a mouse pad, an Ethernet cable, iPod, iPod charger, iPod cable, notebook power adapter, and a USB flash drive and I still have space for more.

The price that Amazon has is a steal. Other cases of this quality will easily run $50 or more.

PS. The bag is not waterproof for those who want to know.

This laptop bag is one of the better ones you'll find for this price. To me it is either this or you go with one of the 70.00 leather or totally waterproof ones. Don't get me wrong...this bag can resist some water, just not for an entire day! Anyway...There are many comapartments that allows you to effeciently organise your pens, books, cd, power cords, other devices. Lots of room for your computer and very stylish.
The one reason I choose this bag is that it does the job of a laptop bag without looking too much like a laptop bag. Why is this important? Well, laptop theft is on the rise and anyone can easily spot a laptop bag these days. It is sooo easy. This looks more like a nice bag with books in it. I tried asking some friends and they all failed claiming that a laptop was not in it.

The Amazon description says this product will accomodate 15" notebooks. However, most current 15" notebooks are widescreen, which will not fit in this product.

Bought the CVR400 case for a new Dell E1505. This computer, with a 15 inch screen, will not fit into the padded sleeve. It does fit into the case (barely), so I will go ahead and use the case since it has other useful features and I don't consider the padding essential. It appears to me that a fairly thin computer with a 15 inch screen might fit into the sleeve.
Note that Amazon displays the same reviews for the CVR 200 case, the CVR400 case, the CVR217 case, and the CVR600 backpack (and who knows what else) even though they are all completely different products, so don't get confused when some of the descriptions don't fit.

This is very nice if what you want to carry with you is a 15in laptop, powercord, small mouse, plus some paperwork. There's no room for anything more, it's not really made for stuffing extra stuff. Even an extra paperback might be a bit too much.

I find it just a bit too small for my use -- I'd have liked it to be a little bit fatter, so I can carry some extra stuff like a book, pill bottles, and such.

One criticism: the strap is ok, but not as comfortable as you'd ideally want. I found it handy to take the strap off my old Lands End canvas briefcase and use that instead.

The title says notebook case, but this is way more than you would expect. It has a huge amount of space for such a compact case. Everything that would fit in a standard backpack would most likely fit in this with your notebook. My notebook is a 15.4" widescreen and it tucks in the pouch like a glove. I feel like its custom made for it. Targus designed this bag really well. It has lots of padding all around, and since the notebook pouch is placed in the center, whatever books, paper, and items around it would give it extra protection. Exterior is stylish and very attractive and there are two ways to carry it around: shoulder strap or a double handle. It also looks good enough to be used professionally around the office or just a visit to your local coffee shop.

I highly recommend this case to anyone that needs to carry their notebook around or just another backpack to haul your stuff around. It is definitely worth the price especially with Amazon's free super saver shipping.

The case is very well constructed, spacious, and padded. The extra details such as a velcrose flap to hold the notebook snuggly in the compartment and the separate pockets for discs and accessories are great. You can easily fit a 15-inch screen notebook with battery adaptor and external mouse in this case. It is the best case at such an exceptional price. You can't go wrong with this item.

I ordered this based on the fact that the leather bag I have been carrying is just too heavy, and there were some reviews stating that this would fit a 15.4 inch screen laptop. While the bag is very light and compact and well made for the price, there is NO WAY you'd get a Dell Inspiron 6000 with a 15.4 inch screen in this, no matter how much Vaseline you use. Maybe one of the kids will think it's a cool bookbag.

I am very pleased with the Targus CVR400 15 CityLite Notebook Case. My laptop fits in it perfectly and the padded sides eliminate worry about banging it on anything. The zippered pockets provide convenient space for all the items I need to take on library trips for genealogy research. The cover seems to be a fabric that will withstand lots of wear and tear.

Unfortunately, this case looks much better online than in person. I have had Targus bags in the past, and the ones I have had were wonderful, which was why I bought this one. The problem is not with the amount of room featured inside the case, because there is more than enough room for notebooks and papers and folders as well as your computer. The problem was with the way it was made. The material used was something that would not have lasted long in itself had I kept it, and the seams at the top of the bag were loose, giving me the impression that it was not going to keep my computer safe. The hooks may be metal but they did not seem to be securely fastened to the bag itself. All in all, I was not comfortable carrying my belongings for school in it because it did not feel sturdy enough.
