Monopod is light weight and very well made.
PoppaT
Once tight, the screw that goes into the tripod mount is just spinning inside the monopod and I cannot remove it from my camera.

Greatly improved the clarity of most of my shots.

First off, Amazon rocks for getting this sent to me by Christmas Eve, despite the current 3-6 week wait. My friend was thrilled I got this in time.

This monopod is great. It's not super expensive and it gets the job done. I really didn't want an expensive one because I knew I wouldn't use it tons (though given how much I'm pleased with this, I might now). The extension to almost 6 feet is great for whenever you need to see above crowds, or anywhere you need to raise the camera/camcorder high enough to get that shot.

The picture doesn't show it, but there are three clips at the bottom where it telescopes. You have to release all three to adjust the height, which makes it even better to adjust to just the right height because you can just snap certain clips into place once you've found the position on that part of the base.

Overall, for the price, this monopod is pretty nice. Metal tip on the base, foam grip at the top with a lanyard to keep it attached to your wrist in case you lose grip and it falls. This is definitely going to help me with my photography, especially in areas where I need to crouch down or have a difficult angle where I need something to hold it steady. It's great for when I use digital zoom, which is more sensitive to slight movement.

Absolutely would recommend for those on a budget.

This seemed great, a nice option to my heavier "pro" monopod, perfect for travel when I might not need it. But after attaching to my camera once, I could not remove it. Once tight, the screw that goes into the tripod mount is just spinning inside the monopod and I cannot remove it from my camera.

I actually got this monopod at WalMart last spring when I forgot to pack mine for my daughters soccer tournament. Loved it so much I've completely switched over to this one. Great height and sturdy/comfortable. Easy to use. I read comments in the other reviews about the threading being the wrong size but I've had no issues. I have a Canon DLSR and have had no problems with it or my video cameras.

My camera, as others, got stuck and just spun on the screw. I just bought this as a cheap replacement for mine as I had left mine at home on a trip. This item should be recalled.

This monopod is a bargain at this price. You don't get carbon fiber or a quick-release swivel head, but you can't expect it at this price. What you get is a solid performer for the money. I got very lucky and picked this up for $4.99, on sale at a national electronics retailer - an absolute steal. I don't care if it gets banged-up.

I've only had one opportunity to take it with me out in the field.

I used it to steady my DSLR w/300mm lens while capturing images of birds, mostly. Greatly improved the clarity of most of my shots. Still learning and this item is a big help.

Next toy...tripod.

The product broke as soon as I attached it to my camera. It would not come off my camera and I had to take a hack saw to it in order to get access to the screw. A terrible product that nearly ruined my camera.

This inexpensive monopod works great for minimizing camera-shake caused blurring. The three extension locks are very stiff but will (hopefully) loosen with use.
A couple of modofications are useful. The first, and most obvious, is a ball head. I like the Giottos
Professional Mini Ball Head Camera Mount.
My second mod is a little more unusual and should work with most less expensive monopods - a "spike" for the other end. Wal-mart sells a fishing pole holder for less than $2)South Bend Heavy Duty Spiral Rod Holder. It is an almost perfect fit over the end of the monopod if you add about 4" of 5/8" foam pipe insulation (<$1 for 6' at Home Depot).
