Check your e-mail, surf the Web, and download data from the Internet with the Targus 56 Kbps V.90 Pocket Modem. This modem is compatible with Pocket PCs and any handheld computer running Windows CE 2.0 and higher that accept CompactFlash cards.

To install, simply insert the card into the handheld's CompactFlash slot and connect it to a phone line using the included standard RJ-11 cable. Using Conexant K56flex technology, this modem transmits at 56.6 Kbps for data and 14.4 Kbps for fax. The modem is hot swappable, meaning you can plug it in without having to restart your handheld. The Targus Pocket Modem features battery-saving circuitry and comes with a five-year warranty.

Product Description

The Targus Pocket Modem 56K V.90 allows the user to connect their handheld computer (running Windows CE 2.0 and higher or Pocket PC) to the Internet or to check their email using standard phone lines. This small, lightweight, portable modem uses Conexant K56flex technology. The performance of this device equals any in its class. The Targus Pocket Modem has a built-in folding RJ-11 jack (standard phone line) built into a Compact Flash card. This convenient feature eliminates the bulky housing that contains the standard RJ-11 phone jack. Benefits for this product include high-speed portable connectivity, convenience, and low power consumption. Installation only takes a few minutes and the product is hot swappable, meaning you can plug it in without having to re-boot your machine.

I have had a Pretec modem,which by the way I never could get to work,and now I have a Targus. Targus is much smaller,and I had it working in 10 Minutes. A very simple setup makes it easy to get online. I played with it till the early hours,accessing all my favorite websites.I paid a little more, but it was worth it. I am using a Jornada 545 with the Targus 56k modem,and the addition of the modem has changed my whole view of the possibilities of my pocket pc.I strongly encourage any Jornada user to try the Targus 56k modem.

I'm a total idiot when it comes to technology, so I was very worried about getting this modem, especially as Pocket PC 2002 isn't exactly child's play to fiddle with. Fortunately, the modem is incredibly easy to set up and use, and I couldn't have hoped for more from it in terms of speed and functionality - really simple, really quick.

This is an outstanding compact flash modem for pocket or handheld PC's running Windows CE version 2.0 or higher. With the Targus Compact Flash 56k v.90 Pocket Modem there is no need to set it up, just plug it in, create a connection profile and you are set and ready to browse the Web. I bought it for my Cassiopeia E-125 (perfectly compatible)and I have been surfing the net with speed and easiness. The small dimensions of the modem allow you to carry it on your own pocket or in your pocket PC Case since it is also very slim. This excellent modem is a little bit expensive yet. Anyway, and in spite of the price, this is a must if you want to stay connected to the internet with your pocket pc wherever you are.
