Product Description

Size: 13.3" Widescreen (16:10 Ratio)

The Targus 13.3" Laptop 4Vu Privacy Screen is designed to fit 13.3" widescreen laptops with 16:10 ratio screens. To protect your information, tiny vertical blinds on the surface of the privacy screen narrow the viewing angle so data is only visible directly in front of the monitor up to 45 degrees away from the center of the screen. Onlookers will only see a dark unclear screen when attempting to view the information from a side angle. In addition to providing security, the privacy screen also blocks the glare to help reduce eye strain. The Targus 4Vu Laptop Privacy Screen can be easily attached by using clear adhesive strips designed for LCD filters or with the included tab guides that stick to the edge of the LCD bezel to hold the screen in place. Users can also position the tabs so the screen easily slides on and off. Highly portable and easy to use, the Targus 4Vu Privacy Screen prevents onlookers from seeing valuable information often viewed on a laptop or LCD monitor.

The product works fine for the purpose it is intended--as a privacy filter.

They requested that I remove my feedback, however, I am just updating and changing my rating from 1 star to 3 stars on their behalf.

The screen didn't fit on my HP 2009M 20-Inch HD LCD Monitor, it was too tall and not wide enough by a significant margin.

I bought this originally to reduce glare as I was getting strong eye-strain and occasionally headaches from staring at a computer all day. And in that sense it works great - I can actually turn up the contrast and brightness on my screen with this filter on and not have any eye-strain.
For privacy it is quite simply amazing! My colleagues at work are always teasing me saying "why are you staring at your monitor when it's turned off?" If you go off axis at all you literally think the monitor is off. But if you're sitting right in front of it, it looks great. Due to the size of this monitor (22") you do see a slight bit of the shading even looking straight on (i think it's unavoidable in this size given how the filter works its intention) but if you're doing normal computer work (documents, web pages etc) it's not noticeable after a minute. If you are a graphic artist, it might bug you a bit as you may not get an ultra accurate display of colors and/or resolution but the filter is easily removable if you opt not to use the included clear tape adhesive to mount it. I did end up using the tape because the filter didn't quite stay firmly mounted. (it bowed a bit on the sides) and unfortunately you can slightly see the little pieces of tape, but since they're on the sides, I don't really notice them. I would never use this at home but at work it has been worth every penny.

I bought this filter to reduce the glare from a patio door directly behind my new iMac. The image quality on the new unit is fantastic but the monitor is really shiny. I ordered a filter large enough to cover almost the entire screen, including the black edges or borders. As a non-glare screen it is 5 stars. I don't use it as a privacy screen but it would seem to be good there too. It's very thin and looks like the monitor came that way. That's the good part.

The bad part is that whoever designed the mounting system never actually installed or used it. It is absolutely the worst method imaginable. They use small, plastic tabs coated with sticky glue that you are supposed to stick to the sides and top and bottom of your screen with them overlapping onto the filter. It's hard to explain but there is no joggle in the tabs to hold the filter. As a result they only contact the filter and your screen on the very edge. I tried using double the number recommended and the filter still slipped off. Getting the residual glue off the monitor after realizing they were useless proved to be a task also.

The solution was to go to the local business store and purchase a bag of file folder rubber bands. These are large bands that are about 6 inches long to start with and of course will stretch. I used two on the top and two on the bottom. They come in black so they are not very noticeable. They work perfectly. If I want to take the filter off to view pictures in high resolution, it just slips out of the bands. Reinstalling it is a 10 second job.

I have seen the other filters that are almost 1/8 inch thick and of a waffle sort of construction and this one is far superior. I give the filter 5 plus stars and the mounting system a minus 10. Surely the design geniuses could have come up with the bands.

It did nothing with privacy!
You can see clearly from very wide angle.
It is thick, hard & looked very old type that is also effecting the resolution of the screen. Installation needs additional adhesive part!!
The price can be one DOllar or less.... NOT $40+
The measurements also are not accurate.

I'd 3M privacy filter on my other notebook for years. Targus filter works as good as 3M's. Even the "Thumb / Notch area" in top right side are the same. I couldn't help to guess the relationship between these 2. Besides the "Tab", Targus also offer double sided transparent tape, which is what I'm using now. "Tab" can provide an option to slot in and out the filter, but it looks ugly and dust builds upon it.

Might need more time to test out its claimed "anti glare" feature. Based on my 3M experience, polarized filter actually limit and diffuse glare, but never remove it. Right expectation makes me a happier customer.

Doesn't stay flat on screen causing blur, thus eye-strain! I have to press down the "privacy filter" in order to cleary see what's on the monitor. It bubbles.
I've tried everything to keep it flat but the heat from the monitor and the inability to secure it in the middle causes blur! Ugh! Real bummer! And a waste of $$$

Just love it. The way it fits into my screen is so amazing. No clips,or anything else to attach. I love it and I highly recommend it to everybody. Besides, the price was right compared to other brands. Thank you.

The product works fine for the purpose it is intended--as a privacy filter. I bought it primarily for the anti-glare properties to be able to use my laptop outdoors. It works OK for that but it does darken the screen a bit more than I would like. If I could make the laptop display brighter that would be a solution but it seems not to be adjustable in that way.

I bought this product because of two needs -- cut down the glare on my LCDs and keep the content private. It works great to cut the glare. The privacy filter is okay. I expected the image to be blurry when looking at it from afar but it is not. I was hoping for it be clear only when you are right in front of it. People walking about 10 feet away can see what is on there as long as they are right in front of it.
