I purchased this product at Target, and I found myself faced with the same problem many others on this site had-- (the PC detected the device driver in system properties, but failed to show the folder in explorer or any of the file contents). I have a SDHC 16GB card....

....HOWEVER-- when i plugged in my phone micro-SD card into the other slot WHILE the 16GB -SD card was plugged into the port, then the card reader successfully recognized the files on the 16GB card.

I am not sure why my device had to have BOTH microSD and SD slots occupied to recognize the SD card slot..... it just sounds like Targus needs to do a better job with their little card reader driver support. This appears to totally be a problem with Targus, although I hope this solution at least allows people to use the device.

(btw-- I tried going through system HUB and motherboard- no luck reformatting-- I transfer files successfully between Mac OS X and Windows 7 Home premium this way w/o difficulty and w/o having to reformat the SD card--so i'm not sure if this is an OS compatability/card formattin gproblem-- either way targus needs to get on point with better driver support-- it's a $ issue-- this is a 7.99 card reader, so you get what you pay for )

I originally rated this with only 1 star because I tried using it with 16 GB Class 10 cards and it would not read them. But I decided to give it one more try (despite feeling rather insane after testing it with two separate cards on two different computers in differing USB slots). To my surprise it actually worked with an old 1 GB card that I probably got as a starter with a camera. I cannot recommend this to anyone using 16 GB Class 10 cards at the very least. YMMV. Use caution when buying. I bought this locally and will be returning it. I would not be as kind in my review if I had purchased it online since originally it appeared to not work out of the box at all.

I purchased this at a wal-mart and I stumbled upon this page looking for some tech support with this device. I plugged it in (according to the package no driver needed for my version of Windows) and it simply just didn't work!! I was extremely frustrated so I tried interchanging my sd cards in the driver and only the micro side works. I would have used the tech-support but the only tech support in the paperwork that came with the device says "don't return this to where you bought it, email us instead" so there is no tech support phone number and the email says it will take at least 24 hours. DON'T BOTHER BUYING IT--NOT EVEN WORTH THE FEW $$ IT COSTS. SO FRUSTRATING..

The contacts that touch the SD card do not make good contact. It shows up on my computer for a while, then randomly disappears, in the middle of a read/write of course. If I put pressure on the SD card in one direction, it seems to work fine. What a piece of junk! Seems as if they did not test them before putting them on the market. Look for another brand.

I bought this device at Target, hoping to speed up video production, but the awful thing installed drivers on all three computers I tried it on (1 Mac on OS 10, and two on Windows 7) and none of them could do anything past installing drivers. Very disappointed, I have data I can't get off an SD card and a worthless device that burned 8 dollars in my pocket.

Purchased this card reader for the obvious convenience it advertised. However, while I got the computer to recognize the reader, I discovered that the reader would not recognize my 4GB SDHC card. Tried for 15 minutes to jiggle the card around in there, but no such luck. Returning the reader ASAP. Sigh.

This thing is a complete waste of money. If you're using an SDHC card thats over 10gb, it simply will not work with this device. I really wish they would write this on their package, but it dupes people like me into buying it. Don't make the same mistake I did. This thing is pretty much junk.
