It is what it is Silly Buns!,
This review is from: Targus TG-42TT 42-Inch 8-Section Travel Tripod (Electronics)
It's a $10-$15 mini travel tripod(If I could underline that I would). It can extend to a good height considering; and, you get what you pay for. It can be strong in it's shortest position and that's where I use it mostly. I have a standard $30ish 60" but this guy I use to handle what the big guy can't. I bought it purposely to bike 7 miles to the outskirts of my small town and walk around the carnival for a few hours, stopping to shoot, carrying all my gear. Naturally the two foot folded tripod would have made that a much more trying experience.
My personal opinion about the uses are for smaller cameras or lighter ones. I use a Fuji finpix and an Olmypus 520 (touted as the lightest DSLR on the market.) Pulling it all the way out with one of the heaver cameras may be "mild headache" advised (not quite "ill" advised) but it can be done. However I would not walk too far away while doing so for fear of watching it tip forward and splat while you run at it too late with a look on your face that is funny to everyone but yourself. Even with the smaller consumer level cameras I would still advise one to be careful with this tripod in it's full extension. It has it's uses and for the price, unless you are a vampire/photographer, I think those occasional times when a tripod is needed the weaknesses of this product are justified. However buying an $800 tripod for your $80 Sony may not be so.

While I'll agree that this is the most portable tripod I've ever owned, it's also the least functional! It is extraordinarily flimsy and, lacking any sort of internal brace, it is difficult to position the legs so that they are fully-extended, but not bent or flexed. My most damning complaint, though, is that the mounting head could not be leveled -- instead of a adjustment screw, the head has two "clickable" positions, neither of which held the camera level. The only way to adjust it was to shorten or lengthen the legs by adjusting the stance of the tripod -- changing the position of the legs, thus making the tripod even less stable.
Save your money and get a slightly larger, slightly less "portable", better-quality tripod -- targus makes several of them!

I have to be honest. This piece of equipment sucks and isn't worth the $20 you're going to soon be upset about spending when you could have paid an extra $5 for something 50 times better. When it's folded down to it's 9 inch height the thing is alright, the legs are stable......but who's going to shoot all their shots from a 9 inch tripod. When you begin to telescope your legs you'll soon see that the overall extended height is pretty good. Once extended the legs have a locking feature that enables you to twist lock the legs, which keeps the legs from sliding back down their telescopic path which would eventually be caught by the push button locking guides. I wouldn't fully know as one of my legs never was able to lock into position, so once extended I had to wrap some tape around the seam to keep the leg from buckling :). Once you have your tripod set up you will immediately notice that each of the legs become the consistency of uncooked spaghetti, they're skinny and flimsy as hell, add your camera to the head of the tripod and the legs become even more wobbly. Why the engineers of this masterful piece of equipment decided to leave out the center guide which keeps the legs from going wherever the hell they want to is beyond me :) There is also no pan tilt feature.....there is of course a tilt up and down built in, but no tilt left to right. All in all this was a wasteful buy. I should have given the money to one of the many vagrants living here in Waikiki, at least they would have been able to get their buzz on ;)
