Targus Versavu Keyboard Case
Targus Versavu Keyboard Case
THZ084US
More than just a case for the iPad 2, the Targus Versavu Keyboard Case features a full keyboard with Bluetooth connectivity for a fully integrated laptop style experience from your iPad 2.
Familiar Feel
The Targus Versavu Keyboard Case features a sleek low profile keyboard equipped with 'scissor key technology', the most popular type of keyboard, which is found in most laptops. Chances are, you own a keyboard that utilizes this same technology already in your everyday computing experience, meaning you'll be already familiar with the feel of this keyboard. No learning curve necessary! Plus, our keyboard features the convenience of both left and right shift keys, whereas others in the same category do not. This case also comes with side tabs which prevent the keyboard from hitting and damaging the iPad 2 screen, allowing you to have a full tablet experience, without the worry that you might damage the screen.
Going the Distance
The Targus Versavu Keyboard case gives you open access to the charging portals, which allows you to charge your ipad and keyboard while in the case. Additionally, this keyboard is equipped with a rechargeable battery with up to 90 hours of battery life for an uninterrupted experience when you need to stay mobile for extended periods of time.
Crafted for Comfort
Ergonomics were a key consideration in the design of this case. The grove in the Versavu case allows you to secure the positioning of your ipad 2 which enables you to type, scroll and otherwise interact with the touchscreen while keeping it in the case.
Rotated View
Landscape or portrait, the Targus Versavu Keyboard Case handles it with incredible ease. Regardless of whether you're viewing spreadsheets in a horizontal view or a newspaper article vertically, this case has you covered with our patent-pending technology that allows the iPad 2 to rotate 360 degrees.
Space for Stylus
You have your case to protect your iPad 2. A keyboard is attached to allow for ease of typing. As far as having a fully integrated tablet experience is concerned, you're nearly there. Now all that's missing is a stylus! Thankfully, the Targus Versavu Keyboard Case features a conveniently placed loop, so that your stylus can be easily accessed when it's needed and safely tucked away when it's not in use.
Worry Free Life
Bluetooth capability allows you to connect easily and begin typing with ease. iPad specific keys such as those relating to media playback enable for full compatibility with your iPad 2.

It has a full size keyboard that makes typing easy.

Like the title says, this is a great bluetooth keyboard/case for the IPad - the case itself feels very nice when you hold it and the keyboard is also good quality.

Good, sturdy case, I like that you can rotate the ipad from horizontal to vertical position.

This is a good iPad2 case with a lot of clever features. Mine was charged in the box and operated for hours without charging. After a couple of days, I charged it fully and have been using it since. I do not turn it fully off, so this means the power down routine works well. Bluetooth pairing worked without referring to the documentation.

The keyboard is fully functional. I am typing this review on the keyboard with my iPad 2. Very few errors. On most sites and apps, the main keys work (alpha/numeric/arrows/tab/volume/function). The top row of keys is hit and miss, depending on the developer, but this is not the fault of the case manufacturer.

The case fully protects the iPad, and is pretty stylish to boot. It adds a lot of thickness, but you are getting a keyboard, so how can you complain? the iPad2 snaps into a soft plastic frame which is perfectly fitted and trivially easy to snap in-out. The screen pivot function works well, I just used it mid-review.

I have only two gripes:

1. No magnets. That would have been positively delightful, and I probably would have given five stars for it. However, there is a key with a lock icon that powers the iPad down and up, which works nicely.
2. Screen angle is steep when using keyboard. This is minor. The only way to solve it would be to slide the keyboard forward an inch when inn use, but that wouldn't be easy. To be fair, the screen angle is better when the screen is vertical (portrait) then when it is horizontal (landscape).

This is my new default case when I want something more than the Apple folding front cover. Four stars for a solid contender.

Nice, quality case with a responsive, crisp Blue Tooth keyboard. The angle of the Ipad while resting on the keyboard is a bit steep, but still workable. Some will be put off by the lack of a Smart Cover feature, but to me that is an extremely minor inconvenience. I think the keyboard, coupled with the protection afforded by the rugged case, make this case a winner if you need the functionality of an external keyboard for extensive typing. The rotation ability from landscape to portrait is also nice. Click the video for a look at the case and the resting angle.

For starters, this case really does fit only an iPad 2. The iPad 2 snaps precisely into a molded plastic shell. The iPad 1 is just slightly too big to fit, and so it doesn't fit at all.

Of course, the hard plastic case means there's no magnets to put it to sleep, as others here have commented. In other words, this is really an iPad 1 case that's been resized for an iPad 2.

Other than that, the case works as intended. The keyboard pairs just fine with the iPad, and the swivel mechanism works. There's no way to control the angle that the iPad sits, but it's okay as long as you put the iPad on a desk and sit normally in front of it. The angle is awkward if you put the iPad on your lap and look down on it.

Using the keyboard is a lot faster and easier than the on-screen keyboard. It's still not as nice as a real laptop, but it's a vast improvement. The most disappointing thing is that some apps don't let you navigate their interface with the arrow keys or tabs, so you're forced to use the touch interface unintuitively.

I've purchased five cases for my iPad 2 in an attempt to find the "perfect" case. The Targus Versavu Keyboard and Case is a nice idea that is poorly executed on many levels.

For starters, I don't feel like this case provides much protection for my iPad 2 and that alone lowers my opinion of the case. The iPad 2 doesn't feel like it's held firmly/securely in place. The Bluetooth keyboard connects easily (wirelessly) to the iPad 2 but the actual feel of the keys isn't very good. Also, most of the cases that I currently have for the iPad 2 have a built-in magnet that makes the iPad go into sleep mode if you close the lid. There is is no magnet built into the Targus case so you have to physically press the power/sleep button on the iPad every time you close the case (otherwise the iPad keeps running and you lose precious battery life). I really don't understand why Targus didn't build a magnet into this case.

The "tilt" mechanism and the slot above the keyboard that holds the iPad in place also aren't well engineered. It's easy for the iPad to pop out of the slot above the keyboard and it's sometimes difficult to position the screen at a good angle for reading text on the screen while using the keyboard to type.

Although I prefer using a "real" keyboard rather than the on-screen keyboard, this Targus case was so unimpressive and awkward that I went back to using one of my other cases without a keyboard.

In short, I don't recommend this case.

I really liked my case until i took it on a trip. The way the Hard parts of the case line up on the screen...the case cracked my screen. I put the case in my carry on, there was no turbulance and the overhead compartment was not overcrowded. My warenty was void because there was a 'point of impact'. Targus says the case is not made for transporting the i pad just displaying it; and that it is not normal wear and function to put the i pad with this case in another carrying devise. They also explained to me that this case is not shock absorbtion rated, to which I said, I didn't drop it, and they further explained that it also means that it will not withstand ANY pressure! This is a great case if it is going to be left in a stationary location. for that purpose it gets a 5....Customer service and the fact that my i pad is now broken and I purchased this devise to protect it...1 star. Word to the wise...apple charges more than the i pad is new to fix the screen!!!
