5.0 out of 5 stars perfect, and shiny too
pretty much perfect. It works well, no skipping or etc, the USB dongle can be placed underneath the keypad for storage. The keys have a nice positive feel to them. And it looks like a million bucks. I even like that it requires just one single AAA battery.

2.0 out of 5 stars Stay away if u NEED accuracy!
I have owned two of these. Both has same problem. The range isn't that great. BUT the main problem is your number strokes do not even register sometimes. Or you have to hit the number twice to get it to work. Its just not that that great of a wireless device in all honesty. I would stay away from this one for sure!

5.0 out of 5 stars OK Mac Pro Snow Leopard, January 2, 2011
This review is from: Targus Wireless Numeric Keypad AKP11US (Black with Gray) (Personal Computers)
OK, so I bought this item in a store. However, since mac users need something like this, I feel compelled to write a review. I have only used this a couple of times but it works fine. I am right handed so I place the pad to the right of my mac pro 17" and it works fine, even though my mac pro has all of its usb sockets on the left. There is no problem up close and it works up to about 1 meter away; that's all I need right now. As far as it having no equal sign, pressing the enter button gives the result of a calculation.

I went from the Targus corded model, which worked fine, but had no TAB key, which I really need. I love this cordless version - has the TAB key, a tilted keypad and space for the USB to store in the back! Great price, great buy all the way around!

Not much to say here. It's a functional product and works well and immediately when you plug it into the laptop. Very good product and highly recommendable.

1.0 out of 5 stars No Range, August 27, 2011
This review is from: Targus Wireless Numeric Keypad AKP11US (Black with Gray) (Personal Computers)
I use this product on my mac. I had a ton of trouble figuring out why this product wasn't working. Then I realized the reason: if the keypad is further than 2 inches from the USB link, then it does not work accurately! What is the point of a wireless keypad if you have to use it right next to the input? Since I'm right-handed, I had to buy a special USB extension cord to extend the input to the right side of the computer. I would not recommend this product to anyone. Right not I'm looking for a keypad with a wire, arrow keys, and a backspace button.

I never review products, but I wanted to warn right handed owners of laptops with usb ports on the left: this keypad is useless. In the normal position to the right of my Macbook Pro, no signal. If I lift it up an inch or two, it works fine. Or I suppose I could turn my Macbook Pro on its side. Keypad itself is well made, nicely designed...except for the whole functionality thing.

3.0 out of 5 stars Invalid specs, October 21, 2009
This review is from: Targus Wireless Numeric Keypad AKP11US (Black with Gray) (Personal Computers)
The official specifications for this keypad state 33' maximum operating distance. My own tests indicate a typical 2 - 3 foot operating range, similar to a few other wireless keypads I have tested. I am still trying other units as I have a need for a long range cordless keypad. But the keypad is quite nice outside of range. Simple, clean appearance coupled with an ergonomic design.

2.0 out of 5 stars Mainly junky, and not worth the price, December 22, 2011
This review is from: Targus Wireless Numeric Keypad AKP11US (Black with Gray) (Personal Computers)
I used this for a year or so because, frankly, I had no real choices at this price point and didn't think it worth spending more $$ for a wireless keypad. I was penny wise and pound foolish.

On the plus side -- and there's not much plus here -- this keypad is one of the cheaper ones on the market. It also works. Well, it's *supposed* to work, at a minimum. It does the minimum, then.

On the minus side, it's poorly designed. By that, I mean not only the obscenely long and inconvenient USB dongle, which is simply ugly and obtrusive. I also mean that the keypad wobbles when you press keys on the left side (1,4,7) -- the balance is off. The wobble doesn't really interfere with the function, but it's maddeningly annoying. The keypad also consumes batteries at an alarming rate. I realize that it has an on-off switch, but for gosh sakes, this thing is a battery waster.

So I bought a Microsoft bluetooth keypad, Microsoft Bluetooth Number Pad. I'm delighted with it. Well worth the additional $10.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good, but Not Completely as Advertised, November 2, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Targus Wireless Numeric Keypad AKP11US (Black with Gray) (Personal Computers)
When I received the item, it appeared to have been a refurbished or a used and returned item as it had significant scuff marks and the batteries were missing that the manufacturer documentation said should have been there.
I contacted the seller and they very quickly apologized for the discrepancy and offered to exchange the item or give a discount. This was a very satisfactory resolution.
The product works great to give me the added keypad for a laptop that I use for travel that doesn't have an extended keyboard (just hope the prior usage doesn't impact the life of the unit very much). It works great at various distances from the USB receiver. The USB receiver is a little large, so makes it a tight fit to plug in another USB device into the port right next to the one with this receiver.
