5.0 out of 5 stars The gold standard
I have 4 different covers for my iPad 2 and this one is the best.

My major beef with the others was the lack of an effective pen loop to attach a stylus (picky, maybe, but it was driving me crazy). This model has a functional interior loop - brilliant. The majority of my iPad use is personal rather than business. At first I thought all the card pockets...

2.0 out of 5 stars Great Idea Executed Poorly
I finally found a Portfolio to carry my iPad. Well, when the iPad is inserted into the secured area, the securing band covers the power button and headphone jack.

At first I thought all the card pockets were not useful. I do plan to take my iPad on a business trip soon. I have an Expense Account app, and the pockets will come in handy for stashing receipts.

Ironically, travel would also be the source of the downside of this cover for me - it is bulkier and heavier than the Belkin cover that was my previous favorite. The Targus cover has a sumptuous soft interior that protects the iPad nicely. The iPad seats snugly within the hard plastic clips at the corners. The result is that more of the surface of the iPad is exposed, versus the Belkin cover where you slide the iPad into a sleeve; there is a leather "frame" along all 4 sides, and often the camera lens at the top is partially obscured when the frame slips a bit.

Yes, it's a bit pricey, but the Targus folio meets my needs the best. It is well thought out and makes a great home for my iPad.

2.0 out of 5 stars Great Idea Executed Poorly, July 23, 2011

I finally found a Portfolio to carry my iPad. Well, when the iPad is inserted into the secured area, the securing band covers the power button and headphone jack. So, when I open the portfolio and start to use the iPad, it powers off. This has happened multiple times in the first day. When I opened an issue with Targus, I received this response: "At this time, we do not a have a replacement designed case for the Zierra. Production design is aware of flaw in the design of the case. However, at this time there is not really any "fix" for the design." I was wondering why I was unable to find a web page for the Zierra. They must have pulled it from their site when the flaw was identified. What I do not understand is why Amazon continues to sell these acknowledged defective portfolios. Do all these other users not have this problem? This situation bring into question the quality of some product reviews.

Amazon refunded the product cost and the return shipping cost, which I don't think they usually do, but they are still selling the product. If there is a known defect on an item, and it cannot be fixed, why is the product still being sold? I just do not understand. I was given the choice by Targus of manually modifying the straps, or return the product to supplier. If I modified the straps, the warranty would be voided, and I would be out quite a bit of money.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not recommended for iPad 1, straps cover headphone jack, November 2, 2011

Looks and feels like a good case. Love that it has a stylus/pen holder and holds business cards. HOWEVER, the straps that hold the iPad in place cover the headphone jack and half of the power button on the top for an iPad 1 (see pictures). As Jeff mentioned, poorly designed... and I am surprised that Targus would make such a poorly designed product as they normally make good items.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fully functional, March 5, 2011

This review is from: Targus Zierra Leather Portfolio for Apple iPad 16GB, 32GB, 64GB WiFi and WiFi + 3G THZ023US (Black) (Personal Computers)
The only fully functional case I have found if you carry your iPad every day and use it like a day-timer. Bonus has room for cards, extra pocket, it comes with a screen cleaning pad and has a loop built in for a pen. Case also holds the iPad securely in place. It is a littler pricey, but the quality is evident. It is a little bulkier than I would have preferred, but I am sure that is to ensure the device is protected. I own 4 other cases and this one is the one I use. For a thinner solution that is not quite as good, but much less bulky, the Griffen is also nice.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice iPad2 leather portfolio..., February 16, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
The Targus Zierra Leather Portfolio for my Apple iPad2 is attractive and very well made. Does not look cheap at all. The absolute only fault I have to find with this product is that it doesn't have a hole in the back cover to line up with the camera in the iPad2. Since the iPad2 fits so snugly in the portfolio, it is cumbersome to remove it to take a picture. Otherwise, this is the perfect portfolio.

4.0 out of 5 stars Works well for Ipad 1, February 14, 2012

This is a little bulky when folded up and put in a bag.
But you could use it as a paper holder, name cards etc.
The standing mechanism is not exactly reliable but does make it stand up when needed.
Just don't expect to type for a long time on it coz a little pressure will collapse it.
Overall a good product.

I have looked around for a useful and protective cover -- and I found it with this great product. Useful for holding credit cards, note cards and the like; and protective due to strong leather cover and soft protection for the actual iPad. Also has a nice stylus holder. Only improvement would be to have a magnetic cover. Cover even makes a stand (landscape), which was an added benefit.
Overall excellent product.

I was looking for a cover for the ipad2 that could take a stylis. This does the job but if you don't mind some of the buttons being covered and no hole for the camera then this will be fine.

I have only given 3 stars because I wasn't aware that the above would happen, but am happy that now my stylis stays with my ipad2.
