The Targus Zip-Thru Air Traveler Backpack is designed to help clear airport security without removing your laptop from your case. The backpack fits laptops with up to 15.8" screens and splits down the middle, isolating the laptop on one side to allow for clear x-ray scanning. The Zip-Thru Air Traveler is lightweight and includes a leather wrapped carry handle, 3D mesh padded back panel for added support and padded ergonomic shoulder straps for comfort and equal weight distribution. The backpack also includes a spacious file compartment, small zip pocket for keys or other quickaccess items, two water-bottle pockets and a number of accessory compartments. I had no problem with using this bag through airport security and it fits fine under the seat. It's a very roomy bag and I was able to fit three changes of clothes plus heels. Here's another trick for using this bag: put your liquids in a bag between the two compartments so when you unzip the bag to go through the x-ray machine, you can toss your liquids into a bin. No need to fish it out of the main compartment.

Pros: Bag itself is light in weight; convenient design to breeze through airport security.

Cons: lightweight construction - not likely to hold up with rugged and frequent usage; the only hold handle on the top of the bag is the padded web connecting the 2 shoulder straps - a separate handle would be stronger; the inside pockets could be designed to be more usable; a separate magazine/newspaper pocket would have been nice.

I purchased two of these, one for me and my girlfriend, for a recent business trip. It sure was easy to pass security this time without having to remove my laptop from the previous laptop bags I own. The pockets were roomy enough that it was able to hold all my techie gear.
