5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic!
This is such an exciting CD. The Latin music revolution? Let's go a little farther afield and check out the Turkish music revolution! This is huge in Europe, due to the large amounts of Turkish immigrants. I first heard of this guy in Cologne, from a French friend, who knew his music well... This CD is beautiful -- just listen to "inci Tanem" -- Tarkan...

2.0 out of 5 stars Too "ethnic" but refreshingly different
On one hand, Tarkan's Turkish lyrics are a bit too unfamiliar for the Western ear. On the other hand, his breakthrough album is something new and different, refreshingly different.

There's a great deal of variation as well, and the album is well-produced.

Still, only a few of the songs are worth the attention.

This CD is beautiful -- just listen to "inci Tanem" -- Tarkan will take you on a magic carpet ride far, far from wherever you are listening. Tarkan and studio band are magical. You can dance, you can romance, it's all there... Ricky Martin, watch out! And he is so cute, his eyes..... I am totally in love.....

5.0 out of 5 stars The unbelieveable world-wide success of a Turkish Pop Star!, January 25, 2000

Tarkan is the most successful male pop singer in Turkey, that also gained a great popularity in the foreign music market in 1999 (esp. with Simarik/song of kisses). He has sold nearly 5.5 million albums so far, only in Turkey! His album "Tarkan" is like a compilation of his 3 albums; if you want to dance, listen a great voice and have an idea about Turkish pop music, buy this album! His brand new Turkish album will be out in summer'00 (also, his 1st English album is told to be coming soon).

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful music, interesting melodies, appealing delivery, April 17, 2000

There is nothing too ethnic for a citizen of the world. Music of Tarkan goes beyond boundaries of nationality, ethnicity or any other concept of that sort. His music brings a feeling of intensified perception of life, increases will to live life like there is no tomorrow, and for me it is extremely fit for a passionate round of belly dance. My personal experience with choreographing belly dances with his music has been absolutely amazing: I have choreographed three in a couple of days. When I feel down, I listen to Tarkan, and I feel better. Quite an interesting cure for seasonal fluctuation of mood - wouldn't you say? All in all, Tarkan's music is interesting, refreshing, passionate, uplifting.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Turkish Music, May 1, 2000

The first time i heard this song i was amazed. I was travelling to Honduras and i heard it on a Guatemalan radio station, i liked it a lot. Then i changed the station and heard it again. What i found out later when i changed radio stations over and over was that this song regardless of it's language was loved by people of a different culture and was being played in a spanish speaking country where i'm sure turkish language isn't understood. When i arrived in honduras i found out also that it was a popular song and a hit among the people there. I said to myself" i've got to get this cd no matter how.! " And i did.I got it after bugging my father to buy it. What i don't know is if a sound heard on the song are kisses? Confusing. PEOPLE IF YOU LIKE MUSIC FROM OTHER COUNTRIES YOU HAVE TO GET THIS CD.

I live in Los Angeles, and saw his video on a latin show! I guess his music is also very popular in Latin-America. A few days later I went to Tijuana and they were also playing his music on a small shop in downtown TJ. This is unbelievable! His music is crossing frontiers at the speed of light! I had to have his CD afer that and I am very happy I did.

Excellent contemporary Turkish Club Dance selections. Very popular in Europe. This CD became popular even in Greece. The first track "Simarik" is now available in Greek. A must in your contemporary international CD case.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tarkan is undisputably the best singer in the world., January 16, 2000

I got his album in August when I was in Turkey (yes, I witnessed the quake), and ever since, I've been listening to it every day. Every single time I'm looking for a break, I listen to it. To wake up, I listen to it. It pumps blood into you, energy. You just wanna jump and dance. I'm hard to go on the platform and dance, but once I hear these songs, my friends don't know it's me anymore.

Tarkan! You're the best. The music, the words, the voice, everything. Everyone who didn't buy his CD yet, you missed 6 months of newspapers...
