I have been a great fan of Roger Bonair-Agard's work for many years now and as time goes by I can honestly say that his work gets better and better. Roger's way with words can best be described as a force of nature that tranports one right into the middle of the poem, you feel like you are a part of what he is saying. This book although specific to the author's life and his relationship with Trinidad,Calypso and Carnival,one can not help but feel the sheer energy, excitement and specifically the passion of his words. Roger's talent and skill is undeniable and unstoppable and when you see him perform live, you will leave the show feeling like this is one of the best shows out. GET THIS BOOK!! GO TO A SHOW!!! you wont be dissapointed. TARNISH and MASQUERADE may seem to be a book of poems about Trinidad,Calypso and the author's own experiences, but it is more than that. It is about life and comming of age, it's about growing,learning and teaching. Roger places a part of who and what he is in this book for the world to see. Take a look I am sure you will want to see and hear more from this artist.
