The students of Hana High School have generated this beautifully written and illustrated cookbook to share recipes from the most important staple food to the Hawaiian people--taro (or kalo in Hawaiian). One of the most revered creation stories to the Hawaiian people (included in the book) tells how the first man is actually a descendant of the kalo plant. The recipes are also diverse and mult-faceted, and other starches (such as potatoes, yams, casava, etc.) can be used if taro isn't available. Enjoy!
