Editorial Reviews

Monica Kendrick, Chicago Reader, November 19, 2004

Its springy, crunchy art pop has depth and texture now, and a wide-angle sensibility reminiscent of Camper Van Beethoven.

Jim DeRogatis, Chicago Sun-Times, January 21, 2005

Brilliantly inspired musical mischief... The group shifts instruments--vibes, glockenspiel, mandolin, accordion, jaws harp--as often as it trades time signatures.

5.0 out of 5 stars Compelling and strange, like an Onion Loaf, October 28, 2004
This review is from: Taro Sound (Audio CD)
Great, great release from one of my favorite Chicago bands. It took them ages to get it done, but the results are well worth it. Complex and sometimes confusing, this is an album that gets deeper with each listen.

This is a really outstanding album. There are traces of Elliott Smith, nods to Beck's Mutations, some Zappa, and lots and lots of strange, beautiful, unusual instrumentation and scary lyrics full of doom and choas. I'm telling you: if this album wasn't already out, I would seriously consider starting my own record label to release it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Take Your Time With QWW, March 6, 2005

Taro Sound is some f'd-up malt liquor, but it may take a few listens before you start to get the hang of it. I can honestly say there is no one else like Quasar Wut Wut - they're like Tom Waits on crystal meth, but even that isn't the half of it.

You owe it to yourself to listen to QWW - it's challenging, spooky and fun at the same time. After a few weeks of indoctrination, I now can't go a day without hearing 'March Of The Zug'.
