5.0 out of 5 stars Publisher's Notes, December 11, 2009
This review is from: The Tarot of Cornelius Agrippa (Paperback)
I published this book while married to Mr. Sagarin. Fred was an amazing man and, of course, this book is my favorite. The photos were never meant to have any order or be "date appropriate," Roy and I just liked the deck, as did Fred. Yale University turned us down when we asked to photograph something from their collection because the book wasn't historically accurate (which it was NEVER meant to be). It was a collection of prose poems INSPIRED by tarot cards. We ended up shooting a deck owned by a high school science teacher who lived in Astoria, I don't recall his name anymore.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Rare Work, September 7, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Tarot of Cornelius Agrippa (Paperback)
This could be a very rare book; only 1,000 copies printed.
The title is misleading, since the tarot pictures that accompany the text are from the Mitelli tarot. I believe that Agrippa was an 18th cent. alchemist, and he never created a tarot deck. The paper stock is excellent. The tarots are not in order, and not complete either. It's mostly about the text. Little parables that seem at times to have some connection with tarot trumps, but mostly go off in different directions. Trippy little tales that leave one wondering what exactly was meant by them. I actually enjoy reading them, although I'm not sure what they mean. Basically, the book is alchemical, with all the mystery that surrounds that subject. And, since the Mitelli deck is hard to find, it's nice to have some pictures of it reproduced. A rare little treasure; I'm happy to have obtained a copy (used.) This could be worth a lot in the future.
