Unusual deck,

This is an unusual deck -- not a standard tarot deck, but the cards do relate to traditional tarot meanings. All the major arcana are replaced by flowers: the Magician becomes a pansy, the High Priestess a rose, the Empress a lily, and so on. The correlations become clearer when you read the enclosed little white booklet. For example, for the rose (the High Priestess) it says: "...the rose is a symbol of the sacred...Its petals, however, are protected by thorns...The rose symbolizes divine secrets revealed step by step...Knowledge, science, special fortune. The spiritual world." The minors are changed into parts of a flower. The suits are: leaves, branches, flowers and grains. Oddly, the court cards are figures named after mythological characters. For example, the Valet of Grains is Tantalus; the Valet of Leaves is Sisyphus; the Queen of flowers (cups) is Thetis, goddess of the sea. The little white booklet is very helpful for understanding these attributions. The instructions suggest meditating on the cards to understand them, but I'm not sure you would come up with anything approaching the interpretations given in the booklet; I think the booklet is essential for getting the most out of these cards. That said, for some unfathomable reason, I do like them a lot.
