"Tarot" an album of beatuy, what's in a name afterall!,
By stephen sheppard (Emsworth, Hampshire, UK) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Tarot (Audio CD)
Fear rears it's ugly head and the words Tarot strike black thoughts into the minds of the people. What total rot, by not buying TAROT by KEVIN KENDLE you may well be missing one of the most beautiful albums ever released and it's descriptive quality abounds with sheer majesty, at the end of the album you will have listened to the very energies of each card, within the very carefully crafted compositions.TAROT as an album is an experience to be recomended to those that have an ability to visualize from within and enjoy the sheer magnificance of this truly lovely cd. Describing the Major Arcana and depiciting the Journey of the Fool otherwise known as the Seekers Quest, the path toward wholeness for the human soul, KENDLE talkes us on a Mystical journey, through 11 cards of the pack. What do i know about TAROT? quite simply not a lot, but taking time to read the contents of the album one will find it extremely interesting and revealing and after all what's in a name, you may simply want to listen to the album because of it's powefull and moving music and that is perhaps the best reason of all. KEVIN KENDLE has at times brough back fond memories of IASO TOMITA in many of the tracks upon this brilliant album. THE FOOL and THE MAGICIAN begin the album with glourious rich and melodic tones, The EMPEROR which incidently is used as the intro to one of my radio programmes, lifts the musicial journey to an almost regal state and my favoutite of all STRENGTH fills the heart full of hope and joy through it's supreme classicial magnificance, very TOMITA and at times almost DVORAK or MUSSORGSKY in it's glory. I would highly recomend KEVIN KENDLES TAROT to anyone like likes the music to move them, that likes there music to give that tingle down the back of their neck to anyone that would wish to have an album that would touch the emotional pallette leaaving them feeling impowered and inspired. miss out on this album and you will be missing out on a real gem Steve Sheppard Broadcaster and writer.

Very useful music for meditations on ten of the major arcana architypes of the Tarot. As they say, "music is the bridge".

I bought his "Clouds" CD back in 2004 and I still enjoy it very much today. After putting it off for several years, I finally bought the Tarot CD recently. I was disappointed with it. The music is OK, but lackluster compared to Clouds. Many segments of many of the songs on Tarot are very similar to those in songs on the Clouds album, but they are imply not as enjoyable for me. Something is missing, it just doens't capture my mood and imagination like the music on the Clouds CD.

The art of listening with an open eye,

It is not simply, music, but where the music leads you. Now I don't doubt you could sit down with 500 cds and find something that would be the equivalent. The important point, is that if you find it works for you, (opens your inner eye and leads you to the place you need to be in order to be more effective in your tarot readings) then isn't it worth it?The best I can say, is when I played this for the first time, it was when I was stressed out...it overcame that and moved me to a better place. Almost like never having heard your mother's voice since birth and then hearing it for the first time in years. You recognize it, it calls to you and you respond with an openess. I teamed it up with a scented eye pillow for relaxation while resting. Then I tried reading several spreads, I was amazed that I was able to go a lot further with the imagery than I have done in the past. Worth every cent!

Nice idea, mediocre performance.,

The idea of making music to accompany the tarot cards is interesting, so when I saw this CD at a new-age store I bought it on the spot.Though the music is enjoyable, it's not much better than "elevators music" - unobjectionable, but not really good. Many of the tracks are indistinct - for many of the tracks I couldnt tell which of the cards it should accompany without checking on the cover. So though this CD is a nice addition to meditations on the cards or as background music to card readings, I could do better by selecting tracks from my CDs collection to bring out the essence of each card.

Listening to the last track while reading will blow your mind!!,

First the good news- this is an exellent new age disc(inspired by the Tarot) to open your mind while reading the cards or even just picking a card and meditating on it. The better news- the last track on this disc, "the Wheel of Fortune" is the best track to syncronize reading a spread with. It features a "climax" type ending that, if listened to while reading an "outcome" card, will really blow you away! Thats how I felt and would recommended it to other Tarot readers. 5 stars!
