There is a coolness and a lyric joy throughout this deck's imagery; the beautiful artwork encourages a restful, contemplative attitude that I find very appropriate for general-purpose readings. The imagery is highly positive without being cloyingly so (like the Hanson-Roberts) -- for instance, the Five of Wands shows a play-struggle instead of a brawl. This deck isn't for everyone -- its vocabulary is sufficiently idiosyncratic as to make it completely inappropriate for beginners, and virtually every card contains female nudity. Possibly more significantly, the quiet feminine energy of the art tends to occlude or downplay negative results and warnings; while I use this deck for daily readings, relationship issues, and magical research, for advice on interpersonal conflicts and finance I'd turn to a "tougher" deck.

Very satisfied with the deck itself. It's not a cheap deck that you might think or worry about. Cards are very sturdy and the graphics are wonderful. Great detail and depth. Nothing missing and certainly a complete deck with all necessary cards.
Overall this is a great deck for someone looking to get into reading tarot cards.

This deck is absolutely beautiful, mystical, and breathtaking. The scenes are just beautiful. Surprisingly enough, the devil card in this deck has been the most intense one I've ever seen (of decks I've used or gotten readings from, or even saw images of online.) I just adore the cards for the magician, the star, the hermit, the eight of swords, the three of cups, etc. I like how the color shifts for the suites, yet is subtly enough to not disrupt the deck. This is amazing for readings. If you enjoy mermaids or ocean scenery, or want a truly special deck, I highly recommend this one.

I expected beautiful artwork, and with Tarot of Mermaids, you definitely get that --- plus alot more I didn't expect.

The art and images on each card have an otherworldly feel. You can feel, imagine, being upon the shore, being out at sea, feeling and scenting the salty sea air. The dreamlike images of the mermaids in their underwater and shore worlds tap into the surreal part of one's brain and opens a 'door'. The readings I get from this deck are thought provoking, meditative, wise and extremely accurate. Not your average 'pretty deck of cards'. The LWB comes with a nice write up about mermaids and the myth, clear, concise meanings to the cards, and its own, 8-card mermaid spread. A VERY rewarding and meaningful deck that is worth alot more than the price.

I finally obtained a deck of this undersea fantasy and am thrilled. This is one of those Lo Scarabeo titles that was published about a decade ago. I initially overlooked it and turned my attention to more serious decks. This has proven to be one of the more serious decks out there. It is entirely based on the Rider Waite system which makes it ideal for beginners and those familiar with this system. My only reservation was the nudity. European decks are not ashamed of the female nude. It is all in good taste and quite magical as well!

Life under the sea comes vividly to life with all the trials and triumphs of the tarot symbolism. If you have an affinity to the sea, were born under a water sign, or just love mermaids, this is a required deck. As a collector and reader, this is my new deck for summertime consultation. I can imagine taking this deck to the beach and dreaming of what may lie beyond the waves! For those of you who like sea magic, this is the deck for you. Imagine the waves crashing on the shore and the smell of salty air.

After receiving four decks as gifts on Christmas Eve three different members of my family have asked me to read for them with this deck. The images seem to invite people to handle the cards and the readings seem faithful to the circumstances involved. Although they do seem a bit skewed toward the 'happy,' deeper meanings do surface, in line with the aquatic theme of the deck itself. The art is surreal, dreamy, and faintly erotic, but I do not find it offensive. My introductory booklet was in various languages and offered fascinating information about mermaid legends. This one is a true prize.

Las imagenes parecen invitarle a la gente que las toque y las lecturas parecen fieles a las circunstancias de los consultantes. Aunque quizas suelan a dar lecturas favorables tambien aparecen temas mas profundos, algo que recuerda al tema acuatico de la baraja. El arte es surrealista, sonadora y un poco erotica, pero no me parece ofensiva. El folleto de introduccion que recibi estaba en varias lenguas y ofrecia informacion fascinante acerca de leyendas de sirenas. Esta baraja es una verdadera joya.

For actual "divination" there is nothing like the Sacred Circle Tarot or good 'ole Rider Waite for me. But these cards are beautiful! Good for the collector. But then LoScarabeo makes the most beautiful cards.

I received my deck the other day and I am so mystified by the artwork on the cards! I have been in love with merpeople since I was a little girl so this deck fit my soul just right. There are two things about the deck that could use changing though; 1. The suits are pictured differently (chalice = shells, swords = tridents, wands = oars, and pentacles = pearls) which I love but lo scarabeo uses the original names on the cards and uses the mer names in the book, which could be kind of confusing at first but is not a big deal.
2. The book is very very vague in description; giving you just words not an actual definition of the card. Since the deck is based off of the rider-waite deck you could just buy a good tarot book like "the tarot bible" if you still need the book to decipher the meanings otherwise just follow your heart.
overall the deck is amazing and I would suggest it to any mer lovers out there!
