A must-have for any tarot reader!,
By aerokev@net66.com (Charleston, Illinois) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Tarot of the Spirit (Paperback)
Of all the tarot decks I have used, this is by far the best. So much so, that it has become a part of my daily life. The art work is beautiful and extremely complex in its symbolism. The companion book continues to shock me in its validity to my own life. Dr. Eakins could not have done a better job! An excellent purchase for both beginning and experienced tarot readers.

This book and deck are the most profound I have found. I had given up on tarot because the most commonly used decks and books are so materially oriented, mostly interested in money, health, and romance. This deck and book set, however, is both intelligent and spiritually wise. I was a scientist before I retired to explore art and spirituality, and it is a rare book that does not seem naive in one or more of these dimension. Thank you, Pamela and Joyce.
I also posted this review in response to the deck that accompanies the book. I would recommend getting both, although I started with the book and then got the deck.

an elementally based deck- not a rider clone,
By A Customer
This review is from: Tarot of the Spirit (Paperback)
this deck has detailed, if somewhat surreal imagery. instead of wands or coins this deck uses fire, to represent spirit, earth, etc. it isn't king, queen, etc. but mother, father, sister, brother. the imagery has sometimes hidden elements that can surprise you long after you think you know the deck. i recomend this deck for more advanced readers, or those more attuned to the elements.

A beautiful, deep but easy plunge into the Qabala and Tarot,
By A Customer
This review is from: Tarot of the Spirit (Paperback)
This book shows the relationship of the Tarot cards to the Tree of Life, the Qabala, an easy entry into the deeper spiritual levels of our being. It also provides beautiful descriptions of the incredible cards of the deck by the same name. Together, the book and the deck present a very LIGHTED view of the Tarot/Qabala. "Just do it!"

Tarot of the Spirit by Pamela Eakins and Joyce Eakins,
This review is from: Tarot of the Spirit (Paperback)
It was a dim Sunday and tears were rolling down my face because I had outgrown all the books I used as a dictionary with my Soul. I, in much despair, told my Soul and Spirit I needed a new tool to work with them. I heard my inner voice answer they had a surprise for me at the bookstore. When I walked in the metaphysical bookstore,"The Tarot of the Spirit" was flashing at me. I found it immediately. When I took it home, I spent the entire night reading it from cover to cover and crying over its sacred pages in recognition of the journey I was pursuing. I was moved to the core and I knew I had heard correctly: This was my new oracle for the next level of my growth. Though I have since bought and been given many cards and books, "The Tarot of the Spirit has remained my own personal sacred oracle. Although nineteen years have passed since that Sunday, my love has only increased for these special cards. When I spend time with them, there is always something new and true to discover, a deeper insight, an inspiration leading me further on a journey that never ends. They have only increased in depth as I have worked with them... or more accurately, I have.
These cards were drowned during Katrina and a friend found them in the debris. He did not dare to throw them away since he knew what they meant to me. So, he gave me the battered box knowing I would have to throw away the cards myself. When I opened the box, a luminous light came out of the box and my cards were intact... and still are... and so was the silk scarf I wrap around them. My Spirit was letting me know that neither wind or rain, nor mud or fire can destroy true guidance and that I was going to be alright. I am sure these cards have brought with them equal beauty and miracles in other people's lives who are willing to see and listen to a higher road less traveled with is beautifully portrayed by Pamela Eakins and her mother.

I felt drawn to the beautiful Tarot of the Spirit deck first, and when I read the book, I found it to be equally wonderful. Written by a visionary teacher for her mother's tarot deck, Tarot of the Spirit is simply and beautifully written, and succeeds in conveying (even to novices) deeper and deeper layers of knowledge that may be obtained from qabalistic decks. Eakins leads us to see our potential in its highest form.

My choice for Tarot,
By
This review is from: Tarot of the Spirit (Kindle Edition)
I've studied with Pamela for about 2 years now and I am continuously amazed at the depth of this work. As I grow in my understanding of Tarot, the Tarot of the Spirit meets me where I am and takes me deeper. If you like the synergy of Kabbalah, cosmology, pyshcology, symbolism, archetypes and astrology, you'll love this. I also appreciate the suits being Fire, Water, Wind/Air and Earth. The artwork is superb and each card is a meditation in itself. I never really got into the Waite deck. Tarot of the Spirit feels like home.

I was so entranced with this book that I read the acknowledgments and introduction (I rarely do so) I found that It was exactly what I was looking for in my life at the moment. Not only does it give a thorough understanding of tarot that can be used with ANY deck, but it also answered all the questions I had about the deck it accompanies. After reading the first chapter or so I came to all of these conclusions but I have been consistently proven right as I read through.

My best tarot book,
By
This review is from: Tarot of the Spirit (Kindle Edition)
This book is only for people that are able to see themselves as spiritual beings. It gives a few pages to read for each card that you draw. I use it as a daily practice, in combination with the Margarete Peterson Tarot. It is magic how this book and that deck combine! The cards give depth to the book and vice versa. This is the best book for drawing only one card of the day, the question always is: what can you tell me about where I am in my spiritual journey at this moment? And the answer always is shocking, amazingly true and adds to what I already know myself. The accuracy probably has to do with the excellent insights in Kaballah that mother and daughter have used to create this wonderfull tool for continuous growth and conscious living. Highly recommended.
