4.0 out of 5 stars Fun book, with a caveat or two
The book was a lot of fun, and I enjoyed the read. It had some great ideas, some goofy ones, and ones that went directly on the list of "things to try out at once!" I'd originally purchased the set in the interest of finding a new and different tarot deck-- and was very disappointed to find that the deck included is just a stripped-down variation on the standard...

1.0 out of 5 stars Poor quality cards, silly content
First, the cards are a re-colored version of the Smith-Rider-Waite (ISBN: 091386613X) deck, but the colors are very odd and clash with the traditional understanding of the imagery.

Second, the cards are almost paper thin, have no protective coating, and the edges still have those little bits of paper where you can see that they were separated from perforated...

The book was a lot of fun, and I enjoyed the read. It had some great ideas, some goofy ones, and ones that went directly on the list of "things to try out at once!" I'd originally purchased the set in the interest of finding a new and different tarot deck-- and was very disappointed to find that the deck included is just a stripped-down variation on the standard Rider-Waite deck.

Some of the suggestions were a little tame; a previous reviewer noted that the book is useless for anyone with an imagination. I wouldn't call the reviewer wrong, but I wouldn't call him/her right, either. If you're looking for some new ideas, it's worth a look. If your life is pretty adventurous already, you might not need this, or want to spend the money. On the other hand, it can certainly be used as a checklist! I got the set on sale, and it was certainly worth the sale price. Not sure if I'd purchase it again, if I had to pay full price.

5.0 out of 5 stars Informative, insightful and lots of fun!, October 22, 2000
By A Customer
Patricia Canova shows great insight in her knowledge of the tarot and human behavior. Each card of the deck represents not only future events in terms of one's career or life path, but also its connection to love and sex. With your birthdate, you can calculate the card that corresponds to you...and your sexual behavior. Mine was terribly accurrate! Ms. Canova also brings a sense of lightheartedness and fun to the book. Even those whose beliefs in the tarot waiver can find true enjoyment and even self revelation in this book and tarot set.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wild & Sensual Tarot Cards - a treat and a perfect VALENTINE, February 12, 2001
By A Customer
Now, I collect Tarot Decks but have never seen one like this -- a wild and wacky, fun and free-spirited reinterpretation of the cards, complete with sensual games and erotic suggestions -- but at the same time, the text really lives up to expert and timeless traditional meanings of the cards, as well. A perfect blend of old and new. Delicate and well thought out, not at all obscene. A playful and imaginative modern spin on the cards. The accompanying book really was complete and throught provoking. A treat.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Tarot & Intimacy....What A Combo!!!, February 3, 2001
My grandmother taught me the tarot many years ago and any explanation of intimacy was not included. I wish to thank the author for opening the door to a whole different world that I shall include in future personal and client readings. Your book is well written, accurate and also extremely enjoyable! Bravo to you, a job well done! I hope to see more from you in the future.

Tarotsutra is hotstuff! Beautifully packaged book with tarot cards. Great for gifts for Valentine's Day, Brides, showers, holidays or anyone who wants to explore their psychic gift in a whole new way. I gave all my sisters and friends Tarotsutra for Christmas. It's a great combo of fun, exploration and sex.

1.0 out of 5 stars Poor quality cards, silly content, November 12, 2005
This review is from: Tarot Sutra: An Intimate Guide to the Secret Language of Sex (Paperback)
First, the cards are a re-colored version of the Smith-Rider-Waite (ISBN: 091386613X) deck, but the colors are very odd and clash with the traditional understanding of the imagery.

Second, the cards are almost paper thin, have no protective coating, and the edges still have those little bits of paper where you can see that they were separated from perforated edges of other cards.

Third, what the authors have done is basically to take the traditional understanding of each card and come up with their own ideas about how to apply the meaning sexually - they offer no real insight, only ideas that you could come up with by yourself, and you would do a better job applying it to your own love life.

Bottom line, this is just another "let's get on the bandwagon and make something with the words sex and tarot in it to sell for a quick buck" product with no real knowledge, insight, or even basic quality of paper involved. I returned it the same day I got it. You'd do better to get a sex game from your local adult bookstore.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun & Frolic!, February 10, 2001
By A Customer
I received Tarot Sutra as a gift for my birthday. My husband and I have had so much fun reading the text together. We've had more than fun drawing cards from the deck and spicing up the bedroom! The book is well written, and I am delighted with the artistry in it as well. The cards are also done well, with a strong influence from the Waite Rider deck. I highly recommend it! It would be a perfect gift for anytime especially Valentine's Day!

Ms. Conovo has hit the jackpot. A wonderful book for everyone. I am a first time Tarot wanderer. And wander I did with the joy of a child and the anticipation of a world traveler. I learned about myself from every page and was delighted with the journey. Thank you Ms. Conovo - what a lovely ride.

Very well written, easy to read. Fun to participate in. Sexy and non-threatening. It's sensual/cerebral enough to give to a woman and sexual/physical enough to give to a man. Sexy box houses an easy to follow guide and tarot deck.
