Book Description

October 1, 2002 10 and up5 and up

The first and only complete guide to tarot interpretation written specifically for teens.

• Provides comprehensive interpretations of each card plus instructions on how to use the cards, care for a tarot deck, and read the oracle for oneself and others.

• Contains spreads, exercises, and at-a-glance card summaries.

• Includes language and life examples geared specifically to the needs and concerns of teens.

• Written by the coauthor of Love Planets (50,000 copies sold) and the author of The Everything Tarot Book and Teen Astrology (10,000 copies sold).

The ancient art of reading tarot cards is a universally popular method of interpreting what's happening in one's life and finding answers to critical personal issues. Tarot for Teens uses examples common to the teen experience to teach how to interpret the cards and apply the oracle to life's timeless themes and challenges: the quest for love, issues of work and career, and the search for spiritual insight and personal growth.

The author offers comprehensive explanations of each card that can be applied to any tarot deck and provides a wide range of sample spreads and exercises. She also explores the tremendous variety of tarot decks available today. Tarot for Teens is filled with possibilities and connections--astrological correspondences, numerological references, mythological explanations, interpretations for cards in both "upright" and "reversed" positions, and practical advice for doing readings--to maximize the fun, potency, and teachings of the tarot.

• Card spreads and exercises to help you learn to do Tarot readings for yourself and others

Tarot for Teens includes everything you’ll need to know to get started with this ancient divination technique--no prior knowledge of the Tarot is necessary.

People use Tarot cards to make sense of their lives because the pictures and symbols that appear on them are familiar to all of us on an unconscious level. Meditating on these images stimulates our intuition--the gateway to the unconscious--which puts us in touch with a deep inner knowing that is difficult to access in everyday life. The Tarot’s main benefit is the spiritual discovery of one’s own true self.

Whether you have questions about a potential love interest, are trying to decide which college to attend, or need to resolve a dispute with a friend, Tarot for Teens will show you how to access the wisdom of the Tarot for trustworthy guidance. The comprehensive explanations in this book can be applied to any Tarot deck and the hands-on activities and sample spreads will make it fun and easy to gain a thorough working knowledge of Tarot symbolism. Most important, the answers you receive when you cast the Tarot will be right for you because they will come from your own inner knowing.

M. J. ABADIE (1933-2006) was a professional astrologer and psychotherapist with a specialty in dream interpretation. She did archetypal research with mythologist Joseph Campbell for over 20 years and wrote numerous books on astrology, psychology, and spirituality. She authored the bestselling Love Planets and Teen Astrology, and her Everything Tarot Book was placed on a Popular Paperbacks for Young Adults list by the Young Adult Library Services Association.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent introduction to the tarot, January 26, 2011
This review is from: Tarot for Teens (Paperback)
This is a well done introduction to the tarot. It is written for teens but, in fact, it can serve to teach the basics of the tarot to people of any age. The author is clear and to the point. The explanations of the cards are thoughtful and useful. I would highly recommend it to anyone interested in learning about the tarot, what the cards mean, and how to begin doing readings with the card.

5.0 out of 5 stars I bought one for myself!, March 28, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Tarot for Teens (Paperback)
I bought this book along with a set of tarot cards for my granddaughter. After flipping through it, I realized it is much easier to understand than the oh-so-esoteric books written for adults. So I bought myself & my best friend copies too! This is a super book--real understandable details, directions, spreads, etc.
