Terk's Tree-Surfing Challenge -- Three Games!

Editorial Reviews

Swing into action and adventure with Disney's original classic, TARZAN(R), packed with fun-filled bonus features and award-winning music such as the memorable "You'll Be In My Heart" and "Trashin' The Camp." Disney's magnificent animated adaptation of Edgar Rice Burroughs's story of the ape man begins deep within the jungle when baby Tarzan is adopted by a family of gorillas. Even though he is shunned as a "hairless wonder" by their leader, Tarzan is accepted by the gorillas and raised as one of their own. Together with his wisecracking ape buddy Terk and neurotic elephant pal Tantor, Tarzan learns how to "surf" and swing through the trees and survive in the animal kingdom. His "Two Worlds" collide with the arrival of humans, forcing Tarzan to choose between a "civilized" life with the beautiful Jane and the life he knows and loves with his gorilla family. Filled with humor, heart, and hilarious fun, TARZAN(R) is an unforgettable adventure you'll watch again and again.~~TARZAN(R) Owned by Edgar Rice Burroughs, Inc. And Used by Permission. 5.0 out of 5 stars Tarzan is Much More Than the Cover Describes June 7, 2014
Format:Blu-ray
One of the benefits of belonging to the Disney Movie Club, is the ability to get movies before their intended release dates. I just got Tarzan blu ray in the mail this morning, and I wasn't expecting more than the movie and the few paltry extras listed on the packaging. Well imagine my surprise when I popped the disc in and found that it apparently includes all of the material from the long out of print 2 DVD set from years ago!! Someone can check me on this, as I no longer own that set, but this seems to be everything I remember. With this blu ray release you get an improved picture with beautiful colors and clear animation lines, a robust DTS 5.1 soundtrack, and all of these extras.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Movie - But Flawed Audio! February 4, 2000
Format:DVD
The movie is great, I like it at home as much as I did in the theater, BUT...There appears to be a glitch with the sound. The front left and rear right audio channel is SWITCHED. Disney is aware of this problem (on 1.5 million disks) and isn't doing ANYTHING about it!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great DVD Features, Annoying Forced Previews February 1, 2000
Format:DVD
The Tarzan DVD has a nice Storybook reading feature and some other bonuses, but also has an extremely RUDE feature: When you first start the DVD, Disney shows you 3 minutes of previews before launching the main menu. No fastforwarding or skipping allowed! What a dumb way to cheapen an otherwise great product.

5.0 out of 5 stars How to make a gem without violence! November 30, 1999
Format:DVD
Technically, this movie is perfect. Great songs, beautifully designed scenarios, endearable funny characters and a strong feeling of nostalgia for movies that aim to a higher message. Regretfully, whoever is a parent these days is having a lot of trouble to explain the violence shown in cartoons to their sons. Moreover, it's hard to endorse any t.v. cartoons other than Pinky and the Brain or history related ones. Tarzan demonstrates that there is such thing such as a Family Film and that you can create visually stunning gems as this movie and, still, send a message other than gross scenes or blood and guts spilled all over. Thank you, Disney.

2.0 out of 5 stars Forced Commercials! -- This is DVD, not VHS Disney! March 30, 2000
Format:DVD
The movie was great, ... the visuals were astounding, the acting and singing were very good, the story was solid (albeit along the typical Disney "formula"), and the soundtrack was up there with other Disney animated classics.
I gave it a 2 out of 5 stars because of the FORCED COMMERCIALS. Someone forgot to tell Disney that this was DVD, not VHS. It's not a tape -- it's a digital format. Disney seems to be attempting to cram all of the rotten things about VHS into their DVDs.
All trailers or commercial material of any kind should be accessible from the DVD menu -- NOT PLAYED AUTOMATICALLY AT THE BEGINNING OF THE MOVIE! Why on Earth do my children need to sit through non-Tarzan material every time they watch Tarzan. This is so INCREDIBLY ANNOYING -- until Disney changes this practice, I will not buy another Disney DVD.

5.0 out of 5 stars From Idianapolis.. Great Movie November 20, 1999
By A Customer
Format:VHS Tape
I have to say that the person from Chicago is way to analytical! This is a childrens movie without a doubt.. Take it from a mother that is very protective of the tv programs that her children watch.. This was very animated and there was no gross violence that all the new cartoons these days have in it.. It was a love story, a frienship story, a happy and a sad story. As an adult, I loved it and highly reccomend it for you and your children. It is something that you can sit down as a family and enjoy together.. Try not to analyze this movie, just enjoy it, it's great!

1.0 out of 5 stars BUYER BEWARE!!! October 10, 2005
Format:DVD
After publicizing this release as a 2 disc set, disney finally changed its mind and released it as a barebones single disc. Those who were waiting to get all those great behind the scenes stuff available previously on "tarzan 2 disc collector's edition" will be thoroughly disappointed with this release.

However, those who missed out on previous 2 disc collector's edition and want to own tarzan on a two disc set, still have the option of buying it from amazon.co.uk, where it has been released as a 2-disc special edition with all those behind the scenes stuff from previous collector's edition. Just make sure you have a multi-region dvd player which plays discs from all regions.

Do not buy this unless you just want to own the film. Better still search for the old collector's edition. It will be worth all the money spent.
