BUYER BEWARE!!!,
By
This review is from: Tarzan (Special Edition) (DVD)
After publicizing this release as a 2 disc set, disney finally changed its mind and released it as a barebones single disc. Those who were waiting to get all those great behind the scenes stuff available previously on "tarzan 2 disc collector's edition" will be thoroughly disappointed with this release.
However, those who missed out on previous 2 disc collector's edition and want to own tarzan on a two disc set, still have the option of buying it from amazon.co.uk, where it has been released as a 2-disc special edition with all those behind the scenes stuff from previous collector's edition. Just make sure you have a multi-region dvd player which plays discs from all regions. Do not buy this unless you just want to own the film. Better still search for the old collector's edition. It will be worth all the money spent.

Great Movie - But Flawed Audio!,
By SALVATORE ALIOTO (USA) - See all my reviews

The movie is great, I like it at home as much as I did in the theater, BUT...There appears to be a glitch with the sound. The front left and rear right audio channel is SWITCHED. Disney is aware of this problem (on 1.5 million disks) and isn't doing ANYTHING about it!

How to make a gem without violence!,
By Eduardo Middleton K. (Santiago, A.M. Chile) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Tarzan (Disney Collector's Edition) (DVD)
Technically, this movie is perfect. Great songs, beautifully designed scenarios, endearable funny characters and a strong feeling of nostalgia for movies that aim to a higher message. Regretfully, whoever is a parent these days is having a lot of trouble to explain the violence shown in cartoons to their sons. Moreover, it's hard to endorse any t.v. cartoons other than Pinky and the Brain or history related ones. Tarzan demonstrates that there is such thing such as a Family Film and that you can create visually stunning gems as this movie and, still, send a message other than gross scenes or blood and guts spilled all over. Thank you, Disney.

The Best DVD Disney has to offer,

This review is from: Tarzan (DVD)
I just finished watching the Tarzan DVD with my fammily and the quality of the animation and story is Excellent. The stunning animation and soudtrack is reason enough to purchase this DVD, but it comes with so many more extras including; a on screen trivia game, a on screen story book, a phil collins music video, behind the scences stuff, cool trailers and a DVD ROM game ( I dont have a computer DVD ROM Drive..yet) Not to mention language selections in English, Spanish and French. A Must buy for any Family or Disney Lover.

Great DVD Features, Annoying Forced Previews,
By Christopher Evans (Raleigh, NC) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Tarzan (DVD)
The Tarzan DVD has a nice Storybook reading feature and some other bonuses, but also has an extremely RUDE feature: When you first start the DVD, Disney shows you 3 minutes of previews before launching the main menu. No fastforwarding or skipping allowed! What a dumb way to cheapen an otherwise great product.

Good movie - Bad DVD - Buy the tape,
By Tony Pisculli (Kailua, HI USA) - See all my reviews

Regardless of what you may think of the movie (I enjoyed it), this DVD does not belong in anyone's collection. Disney has greatly abused the ability to lock-out control of the DVD player during the beginning of the disk, *forcing* you to sit through several previews and an ad. Shame! Ordinarily I'm a big fan of previews, and I don't even mind ads, but keep them in the bonus section where they belong! I won't buy another Disney movie on DVD while this disrespectful practice continues. I'm surprised more people didn't mention it here - I can only assume you've been watching the tape.

Well, disney, you might actually be catching on. . . The DVDalso has a "bounus" not advertised on the front-- you don'thave to sit through 10 minutes of commercials before you watch the movie. The DVD takes you straight to the menu and has more features than almost any other movie I've purchased yet. Some favorites-- Descriptive TheaterVision-- Tony Goldwyn (Voice of Tarzan) narrates the movie for the blind or visually impaired, Animation process demonstration-- uses multiple angle feature to interactively switch between four stages of the animation process. Storyboard/Film comparison shows two frames of the movie-- the storyboard reel and below the final film so you can compare the similarites. Three abandoned sequences from early in the movie's production-- very cool... And nothing beats the visual quality of the direct visual transfer. The blues have never been so blue and the greens have never been so green. Compared to the DVD releases of Hercules and Mulan, which were not direct digital transfers, this movie shines! And to hear the score in 5.1 Dolby Surround is a thing of beauty. Disney-- if you're listening-- keep putting out these collector's editions-- and we'll keep buying them!

shame on Disney,
By A Customer
This review is from: Tarzan (DVD)
yes, this is a great film, good video and audio. BUT shame on Disney for abusing the DVD technology. They added 4 trailers and 1 Disney commercial before the movie, right after the copyright info. Just as the copyrights, you can not break out of these commercials or fast forward. Great for Disney, a captive audience every time you load the DVD. Shame on them, since they seriously turned off buyers like myself. If I could return this, I would!

From Idianapolis.. Great Movie,

This review is from: Tarzan (Walt Disney) [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I have to say that the person from Chicago is way to analytical! This is a childrens movie without a doubt.. Take it from a mother that is very protective of the tv programs that her children watch.. This was very animated and there was no gross violence that all the new cartoons these days have in it.. It was a love story, a frienship story, a happy and a sad story. As an adult, I loved it and highly reccomend it for you and your children. It is something that you can sit down as a family and enjoy together.. Try not to analyze this movie, just enjoy it, it's great!

I just read that Disney will be releasing a "Special Edition" of this video mid-April. They did the same with "A Bug's Life". I love the Disney Movies - but I'm not fond of this release the VHS version on DVD and follow it up with the "real thing". I purchased Tarzan - I don't know if I'll take the risk in the future.
