This, along with all other books written by Angelika Taschen, is worth to buy for yourself to put on your coffeetable or to gift to someone. The photography is amazing. The price is great too as I've seen it retailed for $45 in some clothing stores and home furnishing stores. This book will entertain the fashionista since it details the shops of NYC, the foodie, as it lists the many restaurants of NYC, the traveler because it has an overview of the hotels in NYC and a city map, and anyone who enjoys beautiful photography. Fun and beautiful book. Check out Angelika's other books too, I have most of them and they are all worth the price.

I bought this book from Amazon (one for me and also one for my girlfriend) just after I arrived back from a holiday in New York. What a superb book to put on my coffee table - when I want to return to my holiday memories I open it up. The only thing missing is the gorgeous Crosby Street Hotel where I stayed - the book must have been published before the new hotel opened it's doors. What a shame! I want to go back tomorrow but will have to make do with this beautiful and colourful reminder.

I bought this book after purchasing the Taschen London book, which I loved. Probably because I am a bit more familiar with NYC than London, I had a few expectations. Not one cupcake bakery pictured in here! Is that too popular to be cool enough for inclusion? No Plaza Hotel? Pictures of the Eloise Suite would have been fun to see. The Apple Store and Kiehl's were included in the edited selection of shops, and I have those down the street in my own hometown. I would rather have seen my beloved Purl Soho than a chain store. I also could have done without the large picture of merchandise from the high end sex shop. Guess I won't be keeping this on my coffee table in reach of my curious 3 year old. Other than that, I enjoy the beautiful pictures. I still have the Paris version on my wish list.

This book is a great way to enjoy the greatest place on earth: New york City. Just stroll around and shop, sit down in a hotel lobby or try some great places to eat out! And the best thing is: you don't need to spend a single dollar. Just sit down and relax and enjoy the city where everything is possible.

Amazing photography, great recommendation of spots in a city I cant get tired of.
Adorable for coffee tables.

The pics and descriptions are amazing. I'm familiar with many of the places mentioned and it's great to re-visit them all in a beautiful book. However, on both her pull-out map and the maps in the book, there is just a wide, open, gaping space in space where the Upper West Side is - my neighborhood. I guess I can understand if you decide not to feature any shop or restaurant in my neighborhood, but geez, can you at least acknowledge that the neighborhood exists? At least label the space instead of leaving a giant hole with no title. I find that to be quite odd.

Oh my! This is the perfect book for a gift, travel guide (to read beforehand), or coffee table. The photography is stunning and the write-ups are all places that you would love to visit on a trip to New York. I absouletly love this book, as I do most Taschen books.

A great "more than a coffee book" quality guide through NYC fashion Shops, Hotels and Restaurant

This is a great book. The pictures are beautiful. There are so many hotels and restaurants and stores that I didn't know exist in New York until I purchased this book. Being a New Yorker who now resides in Florida I truly recommend this book.
