Background: Retired NASA CCTV/Video Systems Engineer.

Purchased during Black Friday frenzy and happy with it.

We have had bears and other scavengers raiding trash and bird-feeders, and this camera did a great job of showing the culprits, with perhaps the night-flash scaring a few off!

Unit is quite sensitive, solid, supports 1G SD Card, and picked up deer about 60' away through brush and trees with it mounted on a porch rail about 10' above ground. Impressive!

When we went away for a few weeks, left it inside a window facing the road and yard, and took over 1000 photos, as we were shooting through bushes nearby and suspect the motions thereof during the snow storm triggered the camera. Caught the building-up snow, trees gradually bending over and recovering, gradual snow-melting, hungry squirrels, etc in a time-lapse series thus created. Also passerbys in cars and walking. Neat!

My experiment with an inside-the-window security camera proved what I had suspected with outside night photos taken from behind glass - The Flash is reflected back by the glass to give the lens a whited-out image accounting for a good 400 or so of the 1000+ images logged. A few evening shots of a neighbor checking the house did show him, however. I may experiment with a foam donut beween the lens perimeter and the window glass, but being double-pane, I hold little hope for success. :-)

Have not tried the Video function yet, but plan to - short test-clips came out fine.

All Daytime shots were fine and the D-Cells are still cranking away with no problem.

I heartily recommend this Game camera.

Tom

I had originally bought the more expensive Primos Truth Cam 35, which worked well for a few weeks, and then developed serious issues, including not taking any photographs unless the animal was a few steps from the camera. I also thought that the photographs, even when working well, were adequate, at best. However, they were 'infrared' photos, whereas this came (Tasco) uses a white flash.

I then purchased the Tasco Model 110223C, which is essentially the same as on this page, but a slightly different model number. At the store (Wal-mart) it was fifty bucks. I ended up liking it so much that I went back and bought yet another.

Easy set up. Uses 4 "C" batteries (after a month they still work well). Uses those SD memory cards (I have 'non HD' cards; the manual says they can handle SD cards up to 8GB; I guess they will not handle the SDHD cards which are becoming so common).

I think it takes wonderful photographs. I have dozens of daytime photos of birds, squirrels, etc., visiting my feed stations, and dozens of detailed night photographs of our raccoons (we do not have deer around our place). I made one such photograph my 'background' on my computer screen, of a raccoon standing upright, I guess surprised by the flash, and the color and clarity are excellent (the feeders have red and blue stripes, which stand out).

A few issues: 1) the 'video' simply does not work at night. Period. They do not mention this in the brochure, but after several weeks of attempts, it is clear it does not do so. It will take video (14 seconds) during the day.

2) Make very sure the SD card is properly inserted. I discovered that it is best to push the card in, then pull it out some, then back in, and you will feel it click and stay in place.

I bought this camera as a gift on a lightning deal. We live on several acres and really enjoy watching the wildlife. This camera is fine for daytime photos, but does not produce good quality nighttime photos unless animal is within 5 feet of camera. I question the stated range also, doesn't seem to trigger unless animal is 10 feet away, doesn't trigger at greater distances.

I bought this camera thinking it would be "good enough" to capture some grainy images of who/what was messing with some things around my house. It did capture some images, but "grainy" was a slight over-estimation of what the picture quality would be. I REALLY had to study the photos to figure out what it had captured. Any photos that are taken with the flash are going to turn out poor at best. The pictures taken during daylight hours are actually pretty decent, thus my giving it 3 stars. If you are more interested in daylight photos, this would do a great job at a VERY low price.

I bought this because we had some break ins in our area. I got mine for $40 so I thought it was worth a shot. It works fairly well.

A previous comment talked about it working through glass. Mine didn't work while sitting in a window at all. It would not detect motion outside. Which makes sense.

It is facing a narrow walkway. At night the delay between the sensor activating and the flash is long enough that the "culprit" is no longer in view. Also the night photos are blurry if there is any movement at all. With a wider field it would probably be more effective.

The menu is a little cumbersome, but you have to set it on high res for it to be of any use. Each photo is about 250KB.

The price is nice. So I would give it a try again. The video feature is not good enough to purchase if that is your intended use.
