From The Manufacturer

Tasco's best-selling Essentials line balances optical performance and quality construction, offering an affordable way to add a pair of high-quality binoculars to your household, pocket, or suitcase. The handsome, rubber-armored housing not only absorbs shock and protects them from bumps and bruises, it adds in a weather resistance factor should it decide to rain--or snow--at the big event.

Our most versatile, all-purpose binoculars feature an impressive 500 ft. field-of-view.

The Zip focus system allows you to move through the entire focus range in less than a half-turn of the focus wheel--an excellent feature for following fast action. They are especially suited for use over water, snow and in other bright conditions.

Our most versatile, all-purpose binoculars feature an impressive 500 ft. field-of-view.

  • Porrow prism system

Tech Talk

  • Magnification: Magnification is indicated by the first number given. For instance, "7x" means that you will see an object seven times closer than if you were viewing with the naked eye.
  • Objective Lens Diameter: The objective lens diameter is indicated by the second number (e.g., 21mm), which indicates how much light is able to enter the binocular. The larger this number is the better your sight will be in lower light conditions.
  • Porro Prisms: The distinctive, off-set binocular housings accommodate two internal porro prisms, which are used to elongate the light path to enable higher magnifications than primitive field or "opera" glasses. Porro prism binoculars typically deliver exceptionally high optical quality at more affordable prices than roof prism binoculars of the same power rating.

Product Description

The Tasco® Essentials® line of roof-prism binoculars are tough, weather resistant and, most importantly, affordable. So whether you're big-game hunting or stopping off to see the world's largest prairie dog colony, there's an Essentials binocular just right for the occasion.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just Great!, May 8, 2010
This review is from: Tasco Essentials 7x35 Zip Binocular (Black) (Electronics)
I have the 7x35 binoculars, and they're great! These are very well built, made with metal and rubber (much better that plastic). My last pair fell off the counter and broke into many small pieces. These binoculars should survive a fall off the counter!

The zip zoom is very handy when watching birds. To focus, the nob moves the inward sights (the ones you look into) rather than the outward sights. On many other binoculars the nob move the outward sights. The grease these pieces of glass use gets dirty and hairy after a while, which really annoys me! The Tascos have their greese stored INTERNALLY instead of externally, which meens it will look much better, if you care about that stuff.

The handholds are the perfect size. My last pair were far too small and too light, which will make your hand wabble a bit, which is not good when spying on a bird. The Tascos are a good size for my hand and they weigh just right.

The Tascos have a shocking amount of clarity. I can see the ticks on the neiborhood cat 20 feet away! Anyways, I would defiantly recommend this to a friend. It's a lot of binocular for the buck!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great quality for the money, December 31, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Tasco Essentials 7x35 Zip Binocular (Black) (Electronics)
I bought these binoculars as a supplement to my 10X25 compact binoculars, and have used them while hiking and bird watching.
They are light weight, the view is pretty clear and the field of view is excellent. I wear glasses and can easily use them with my glasses, and without eye strain. I didn't have the pleasure of dropping them on a hard surface or in water, and doubt they would survive it (they are not marketed as water proof, water resistant or shock resistant) but I didn't want to pay substantially more to have these features. These binoculars are so inexpensive that if they are destroyed, I will just buy another pair.

In spite of the tendency to promote high powered binoculars, the 7X35 wide angle remains the handiest size. Reasonably light and compact, and fine for daytime use.

I'm not a binocular connoisseur, but the Tasco binoculars defined the detail on quail in my yard just fine. I felt no eyestrain while using the pair. The focus is very quick and easy, a great improvement over the old kind, where you turn and turn a wheel.
