Great binoculars for boaters,
By DLK (Florida) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Tasco OS36 Off Shore 7x50 Binoculars (Electronics)
Although Amazon does not say which model these are, they are the OS36 with the built in lighted compass and rangefinder. It is very easy to get a compass bearing while looking through the binoculars and the 50mm field of view is especially useful at night. They are auto focus which do not require manual focusing. Comparable binoculars are at least double the price elsewhere.

Fantastic Binoculars For The Price,
By Mr. Staack (Illinois) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Tasco OS36 Off Shore 7x50 Binoculars (Electronics)
A family friend - himself a relatively accomplished skipper - had brilliant Steiner 7x50mm binoculars, which I always adored, but could never afford. I've been fortunate enough to come into possessing these Tasco OffShore 36 binoculars, as a gift for a job well done, and I feel that envy subside. For weeks, now, they've served me well. The compass is as accurate as any in my collection, and calculating distance is now a breeze with or without the use of the built-in slip-ring scale. Optics are bright and clear, in all weather, faring well in my own informal PVT test (rough distance with a modest photocopy of the chart). The compass and reticle are easy to read. The objective lens caps are connected to the center pivot, making them hard to lose. About the only thing I wasn't wild about, was the big rubber rear boot that rarely stays in place. I aim to replace it with individual caps, when the opportunity presents itself. But that's hardly a deal breaker. In all, it's the best set of optics I've owned, and I would recommend it to most people. In my experiences, my Tasco OffShore 36 binoculars compare favorably to binoculars costing twice as much. Even if they weren't a gift, I would pay the asking price, knowing I'm getting a great deal.
