Don't blame the CD if you don't like this music. This is an authentic sampling of what true Asian music sounds like. Although the vocal intonations sound strange to our western ears to pass it off as fighting cats is rather dim-witted. Some of it is very rhythmic and harmonious. Just listen to samples one and three to get a good idea.

This type music is an aquired taste, and is like nothing you have heard unless you live within 1000 miles of this part of the world. When you first hear it it sounds like cats fighing or fingernails on a chalk board.

This CD features 77 minutes of songs from Laos, Thailand, China, and Indonesia. Dengyue jiaohui reminded me of bluegrass more than other traditional Chinese songs I have heard. I was a little disappointed in this CD. The CD does come with an 8 page booklet that describes, in English, what the songs are about and the meaning behind them. If you are looking for Asian music, you may want to bypass this one.
