Nice book, but not one of their best,

I bought this book thinking that it would have a bunch of nice fall recipes, which it does. But it also has a lot of decorating idea, etc., which I really wasn't expecting. The recipes are just okay, nothing too outstanding. Of all the Gooseberry patch books I've purchased, I have used this one the least. You may just want to borrow a friend's or get it at the library and write down the recipes that look appealing and spend your money on their Christmas books.

Maybe you're one of those super-sophisticated types that never is faced with needing a potluck entree for 12, a soccer party, Awana meeting, school carnival, staff potluck or any of the other events that lots of folks are required to attend. A bag of potato chips and a big smile usually won't do the trick. I marked at least a dozen recipes in this book from a Autumn spin on the old "Gorp" trail mix to clever hot drinks for a crowd like Cranberry Tea and Hot Berry Cider. Nothing too simple or too full of fat and sugar, but definately a useful reference tool for many women in the "Social Whirl" of middle America.

I borrowed this book from a friend years ago and decided I needed to own it. Autumn being my favorite time of the year, this book provides lots of Apple and Pumpkin cooking ideas that I enjoy. The illustrations are charming and since this cookbook series provides a compilation of recipes from contributing cooks nation wide, it is filled with variety. FYI this book contains no color photographs of the recipes. I know that can be a deal breaker for some cooks.

This is a great book filled with lots of great fall recipes. My husband was skeptical of some new ones I tried from the book, but he ended up loving them! Fantastic series of cookbooks too!
