4.0 out of 5 stars Half Empty or Half Full?
This is definately one of those albums you have to listen to twice before making your opinions about. On the first listen you may only remember the really really bad songs and think the whole thing sucks. Upon further inspection though, this is actually an awesome Christmas CD.

3.0 out of 5 stars The fat man is singing "Oh oh oh".
The Taste of Christmas compilation is a collection of holiday music from artists on the Taste of Chaos tour, with exclusive newly recorded versions of Christmas songs. These bands were on the 2005 tour and were mostly unknown at the time, and for the most part are still unknown now. The best known group nowadays is the Plain White T's. This is definately one of those albums you have to listen to twice before making your opinions about. On the first listen you may only remember the really really bad songs and think the whole thing sucks. Upon further inspection though, this is actually an awesome Christmas CD.

Each classic carol has a new alternative rock-type revision, but most of them maintain that joyous christmas feeling you look for in the time of giving and loving. "First Noel" is beautiful, along with many others. "Last Christmas" "Happy Christmas" and "Miracle of Christmas" are all amazing, and a great addition to any christmas album collection.

There are some duds, but only a few. "Jungle Bells" "Christmassacre" and "We Three Kings" get obnoxious, annoying remakes, but those are really the only stand-out bad ones. If you're tired of hearing Nat King Cole every year and want some new alternative rock versions of your favorite yuletide carols, then this CD is for you!

These bands were on the 2005 tour and were mostly unknown at the time, and for the most part are still unknown now. The best known group nowadays is the Plain White T's. The songs are of varying quality; there are some good ones and some bad ones. I like the cover versions of "Happy Xmas", "Last Christmas" and "The First Noel" and the original song "We Might Be Alone Tonight". Of the songs that I don't like, "Christmassacre" is the worst. This is a decent rock Christmas CD.

4.0 out of 5 stars yeah..., November 28, 2005
This review is from: Taste of Christmas (Audio CD)
overall, this is actually a great Christmas cd. i'd say its weakest point is sadly Christmassacre by From First to Last. i was actually pretty disappointed, because i'm a pretty big fan of them. the high points on the cd would have to be definitely right where it starts. Bert McCracken does an awesome job with Happy Christmas (war is over), and it shows how well he can really sing. Miracle of Christmas by Funeral for a Friend is a great song as well. then Bert McCracken is back with the rest of the Used on Alone this Holiday, which is an amazing song.

4.0 out of 5 stars Decent, could've been more., December 23, 2010
This review is from: Taste of Christmas (Audio CD)
I couldn't agree more with the others. I'm an avid FFTL fan, even though the band is for all intensive purposes broken up, they're still my favorite. I can listen to Christmassacre, but only because I am a huge fan; it as well as other songs are simply poor quality and annoying. Overall however, the cd is a solid rock christmas album, and as the others stated, Bert is fantastic in both his songs. At the end of the day, I'd say it's worth $8.

For an "older" (45) babe, I really really enjoy this CD... I love The Used and Bert McCracken and that was why I mainly got it. But there are lots of other really good songs on here for something "different" for Christmas...

3.0 out of 5 stars no title?, December 1, 2007

i agree with the first reviewer, the first time you listen to it you remember all the bad songs....but it's not like the second time makes them good. it's an ok cd. it's nothing special. nothing you'll be like 'oh man! i can't wait for xmas! yes! rock and screamo!'

i like maybe....5 songs on it? i guess i just like to think of christmas as the tradition happy go lucky celebration

oh and FFTL is terrible
