Editorial Reviews

Review

This is the current edition. All others have been retired and are out of print. --Author

I'm not a Sci-Fi fan but Ms Moore has me hooked with this set of books. --Martha A. Cheves, A Book and A Dish

"...I really enjoyed this book.  It had some unexpected plot turns and the story never takes the obvious line. To Taste The Dragon's Blood is an immensely entertaining read." --LoveVampires.com --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

From the Author

My inspiration for Jonathan actually originated with a novel I finished in 1972 called "Escape to Samarra", which predates the Indiana Jones series of films and books. After that I was inspired by the films "Capricorn One" and "Hangar 18", with a generous nod to all the space conspiracy urban myths circulating around the world. But I also blended in action, adventure and vampire romance in the idiom of the Children of The Dragon series. The story features characters who are the ancestors of a character introduced in Destiny's Forge, and introduces a new one. The title for To Taste The Dragon's Blood is derived from a quote by Joseph Campbell about the hero Sigfried in his book "The Power of Myth". This book is not intended for young readers under the age of 17 and contains blood, violence, and mild suggestive content. Though relatively short for a novel of its scope, it contains speculations and philosophy about the future of the space program, Mars as a target for colonization, and also the political repercussions should a real alien being be discovered. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

More About the Author

I am an author, illustrator and publisher with an avid interest in science fantasy adventure, history, mythology, and science; and a skeptical interest in pseudoscience and paranormal research. I write in a strong cinematic style with the mission to intellectually stimulate as well as entertain.

My current projects include the Children of The Dragon series of SF/vampire fusion books, a chronicle of the Xosan, vampires from the planet Antellus who were once human but were transformed by a dragon's blood. They are stories of science fiction, fact and fantasy, myth and history, romance, tragedy and triumph; linked together by the theme of the vampire as hero. Books in this series are: Destiny's Forge, To Taste The Dragon's Blood, NAGRASANTI Illustrated Vampire Omnibus, Red Dragon, The Queen's Marksman, A Pirate's Daughter, Truth and The Dragon's Blood, and Written In Blood. I am working on the 9th book Swords of The Dragon's Blood, due to come out soon.

Another project is the Saxon & Hampstead Investigations, Ltd. mystery series.
Valiant Saxon is a repentent jewel thief turned private eye. Laura Hampstead is a seasoned professional investigator. Together they operate an agency specializing in solving the unsolvable and getting to the truth behind the legend. Their cases often take them off the beaten path, and there is an undercurrent of romantic tension between our heroes, making their adventures all the more appealing to an ardent mystery lover. My first casebook is The Mystery of Cranewood Manor. I am working on the second book, The Mystery of The Missing Masterpiece to be published in Fall.

I also write nonfiction on genre related subjects like history, mythology and science. My latest books include A BOOK OF FIVE RINGS: A Practical Guide to Strategy by Miyamoto Musashi, PRINCIPLES OF SELF-PUBLISHING 3rd Edition and The Ten Percent Solution: Simplifying the Tax Code in The New Economy. I am working on five other books; all in varying stages of progress.

5.0 out of 5 stars The thril goes on!, December 15, 2010
By
`Mars. Small, cold, foreboding, so close to Earth..... For billions of years it remained that way, untouched and untouchable by man, glinting redly in the night sky, until one Martian "spring" day in July of 2069 when the Earth starship Percival Lowell pierced the thin envelope of its atmosphere and perched its angular hawk-like body on the rim of a crater in the shadow of Olympus Mons. Dust and smoke filled the pink sky with a dark haze thrown up by control and attitude thrusters as they formed a small crater. The cloud drifted aimlessly in the thin air before settling down, covering the ship in a thin layer of micro fine ferric oxides. There was no one there to greet the twelve astronauts who crowded around the main viewport in Lowell's cramped, instrument-laden command module. The image of the semicircular plain stretched out before them spoke mutely of a land colder and more dangerous than the icy glaciers of Antarctica. No marching band, no reception committee, not even so much as an incurious stare from a herd animal munching lichens. Lowell was cast adrift on a sea of barren rock far from home.'

As scientists from Earth proceed in their search for another planet that will allow life to live and multiply, their sight has turned to Mars. The mission is to test, sample and determine if there was or is life on Mars. But when the ship's archeologist Jonathan Kraine falls into a chamber below the planet's surface, all is changed. And when he solves the puzzle that opens the walls of the chamber, exposing compartments that still contain bodies of travelers before them, all hell breaks out.

The crew will only have the means to rescue one body from the chamber but that apparently turns out to be enough to wreak havoc on Earth. The survivor, Andruantellus Trocana Dragonsblud, is from the planet known as Antellus and is a descendent of the "Dragon". In other words, he is what planet Earth calls... a Vampire.

Author Theresa M. Moore continues with her Children of the Dragon series by adding new characters, stories and places, but entwining them with her characters from her book Destiny's Forge. As I said after reading Destiny's Forge, I'm not a Sci-Fi fan but Ms Moore has me hooked with this set of books. I'm now looking forward to reading the next book in the series - Red Dragon. Each book is written as a standalone, meaning you can read each individually without reading the others, but I recommend that you start with Destiny's Forge and continue down the list. --
