...and pulled off with such perfection! I didn't even know this existed until I went to the Mastodon concert on 09/29/06 at the Fonda Theatre in LA. While waiting for the band to set up, this wonderful string rendition of Leviathan began to play over the PA. I think there were many there (including myself) wondering in amazement of what this could be? Mastodon's Leviathan album is a phenomenal work of art (not just for metal, but for the music world as a whole). What the Taste of Chaos Ensemble has done with such a great concept album seems like such a natural progression...this tribute was meant to be! I can easily see this music playing as the soundtrack to an updated Moby Dick movie...while the waves pound the bow of the great, old whaling ship fast on the trail of that prehistoric white whale! Whether you're a Mastodon fan or not, this is definitely one to get! BUY IT!

The Taste of Chaos Ensemble has done it. They have captured the aggression and added the beauty of classical instruments to a classic metal album.

Mastodon's Leviathan is a complete album and a classic already. TTOCE now adds a new dimension to the plot with this great performance.

Metalhead or not, you will find power and passion in this album.

This is truly a must have for your Mastodon collection. It translates so well. They hold the intensity that makes Mastodon so good. A good album through and through.

For a group to be admired through classical musical is great. Although a much different feel without the electricity included it still rocks. Maybe after a rough day at work and looking to not have to focus on lyrics this would be a great alternative. Just let your mind explode and feel the sonic aura that is Mastodon being done with brass and winds. This is a very good CD and don't pass it up
