Rodney Dangerfield meets Joan Rivers,
By
This review is from: A Taste of Funny (Paperback)
A Taste of Funny had me chuckling so much in bed that I could hardly go to sleep. If Rodney Dangerfield (RIP) merged with Joan Rivers, a book like this would be the result. Dorfman weaves wisecracks (about vokda: "Hey,Mac, this spud's for you!) with knowledge (potatoes came from Peru, not Ireland--4,500 years ago) in a most entertaining fashion. A fun read; and a good gift, on its own or slipped into a gormet basket. Would make a great hostess gift.

tasty and funny indeed,

A Taste of Funny is a very enjoyable and fast read that would appeal to "foodies and non-foodies" alike. Not only did I find Ms. Dorfman to have a delightful sense of humor, the book is also filled with interesting and obscure facts regarding various foods. We learn about the "caveat emptor" (buyer beware) when purchasing bottled water. We learn how to avoid crying tears while peeling onions. I laughed out loud while reading the article about the giant lobster.
The conclusion page notes that the articles are meant to amuse and distract from the stress of everyday life. Ms. Dorfman clearly accomplished her goal. Buy the book...you won't regret it.

Cute!,

This review is from: A Taste of Funny (Paperback)
A Taste of Funny is a fantastic book to breeze through. It's divided into snip-its that are concise, entertaining, and educational. My favorite was the chapter on low-fat substitutes, which goes through the trials and tribulations of trying to decipher nutrition labels. This book would make a delightful hostess gift, stocking stuffer, or party favor for anyone who finds delight in food.
