4.0 out of 5 stars Word of mouth
The day this cookbook arrived, I showed it to a friend who is on a low-cholesterol diet; she liked the layout (nutritional information and photos) so much that I gave it to her. In return, she invited us for dinner the first time she used it. That meal was delicious, and I ordered another copy as soon as we got home. Last weekend I made three different recipes from the...

2.0 out of 5 stars guilt free but not great
I usually really like the taste of home line, but this one just did not do it for me. I was looking for great recipes to fix not fixed reciepes of old favorites. Not the same at all. I can reduce a little sugar here or choose a better fat. I wanted receipes that were designed to taste great with the ingredients listed. Sorry taste of home, this one is not a keeper.

4.0 out of 5 stars Word of mouth, April 16, 2008
The day this cookbook arrived, I showed it to a friend who is on a low-cholesterol diet; she liked the layout (nutritional information and photos) so much that I gave it to her. In return, she invited us for dinner the first time she used it. That meal was delicious, and I ordered another copy as soon as we got home. Last weekend I made three different recipes from the soup section, all of which were good. The Italian Vegetable Soup was particularly tasty, so I took some to a neighbor, who called almost immediately to ask for the recipe. (She and I are both in Weight Watchers, and this cookbook makes it easy to calculate point values.) Now she wants a copy, too. The format of the cookbook makes recipe selection simple for those who are watching their diet for one reason or another, the recipes are simple to prepare, and a number of them are easy to make ahead. This is a practical cookbook.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Cookbook!, May 2, 2009
This review is from: Taste of Home: Guilt Free Cooking: 356 Home Style Recipes for Healthier Living (Paperback)
You cannot go wrong with Taste of Home. This cookbook is no exception. I have always loved Taste of Home, but when I recently started to try to lose some weight, I was hesitant to make any of the usual rich, tasty recipes. Then I found "Guilt Free". It came in the mail this week and I have already made three of the recipes - each were fantastic! I would highly recommend any of Taste of Home's many cookbooks, but if you are trying to watch your weight, "Guilt Free" is the book for you - it will not disappoint.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic and easy recipes, June 7, 2009
This review is from: Taste of Home: Guilt Free Cooking: 356 Home Style Recipes for Healthier Living (Paperback)
I despise cooking; moreover, I absolutely hate dieting. Imagine my surprise when I found a cookbook that appeared to provide both easy and low calorie, healthy meals. Can we say, "too good to be true"?

I took the chance and have been absolutely amazed! I've made a few dishes and a dessert from this book and they were extremely simple and tasty. I got my daughter interested in the book and now we're both ear-marking our next intended recipes with enthusiasm. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this book to anyone else, regardless of cooking skill or intentions. I don't believe you need to be on a restricted diet to give this a shot -- you simply don't miss the ingredients that are usually so bad for us that they substitute or leave out.

Get this book! :)

I'm a big fan of Taste of Home publications. The pictures are great, and the recipes are easy to follow. The refried bean burrito recipe is definitely my favorite from this book, but there are a lot of other great recipes in this book, too.

This book is also nice because it calls for relatively common ingredients, and nothing too terribly expensive.

I just ordered this cookbook after reviewing it at a family members home. I have tried several recipes and my husband and I have enjoyed them all. The recipes are made from affordable ingredients commonly kept as staples or on your weekly shopping list. (i.e. ingredients are not "unique" to each recipe and then will sit in your cuboard unused until the next time you make the recipe.) The recipe photos are beautiful and are an accurate reflection of the finished product you can create in your own kitchen.

I have several recipes I want to try from the cookbook. One thing I like is that the portion sizes are realistic. All nutritional information is provided and there are great pictures.

I have already ordered two of these books at the suggestion of a friend of mine. I gave one as a gift and kept one. It's so great and the recipes I've tried are wonderful and also easy. They usually have seasonings I have in my kitchen - nothing out of the ordinary. Anyway I ordered this most recent one and gave it as a gift also. It's a shame this is out of print. It's a great cook book. Also it was received at my home in great condition and just on time.

Thanks Amazon and thanks Taste of Home!

Diets don't work if you don't eat food that is what you are used to eating. This cookbook offers homey, slimmed down tasty recipes. I can't wait to try them all but so far I've been happy.

Recommend.
