3.0 out of 5 stars Nice Enough, But Left Me Feeling Ambivalent June 1, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
**2.5 Stars**

Okay. I'm just going to be up-front and say this is a tough review for me, mostly because I feel a bit ambivalent about A Taste of You. I was interested in the story, yet I didn't find anything new and exciting in it. I liked the characters, yet I wanted to shake them. I enjoyed the book, yet felt annoyed by some aspects of it, too.

A Taste of You is about a lonely, reserved woman and the cultured, in-control billionaire who steals her heart. It's a nice escape for those who love their romance to be lavish and to read like a fantasy. Catherine meets William, and there is an immediate attraction between them. She's sure he doesn't really want her. Why would he when he can have any woman in the world? But want her he does, and William is determined to have Catherine.

The story has a lot of back-and-forth. Catherine wants William, but decides she's not ready for a serious relationship. She agrees to see him, but spends the entire time doubting that decision and determined to end it. But then he shows up on her doorstep, or actually talks the neighbor into letting him into the apartment, and all is well again. Catherine decides that William could never want to be really be with her, but he tells her that she's the only woman he has ever felt this way about and to please, please stay.

I never formed a strong connection to the characters. They've both experienced tremendous loss, and for that I sympathize. I think for Catherine, it was the constant back-and-forth in her decision making. Now I'm not going to say that it's not realistic, because it probably is for some people, but it just simply grated on me because I could see her mind swinging like a pendulum. And William...yeah, he was sexy and smooth and all, but so frickin' moody.

1.0 out of 5 stars We are still riding FSoG wagon May 5, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
I'm not happy to be giving this book one star, but in my defense, a free copy was provided to me for my honest opinion, so that's what I'm giving.

The cover is the only think I like about this book.

There is only so many Ana-ish heroines I can handle, who stumbles, falls to their knees and when they look up, there he is. Then there are pages upon pages of descriptions of him, his eyes, his physique and of course his silver tie. 6 to 8 pages of drooling over a stranger before answering "uhm, I'm fine".

The heroine of this story is a over-analyzer on steroids. There are more question marks in this story than there are commas. Why did I do that? Why did he looked at me like that? Did I really want to know? What did he mean by that? Why me? What's wrong with me? It goes on and on and on. There were parts with 4 or 5 questions in a row. Not only it was exhausting it was annoying as hell.
Her being a photographer and loving her job is fine. I get it, she is passionate about what she does, but a lot of those descriptions of her work were way too long.

And then we have our billionaire. A man of many talents. Of course he know everything about her. Nowadays all billionaires stalk their women and do thorough background checks before approaching them. The first time they were at the park, he brought her gloves, because he knew she never wore them. How in the world does he know that?
The next "must do" is to barge in into her apartment when she's not at home and cook for her. Then there are extravagant gifts like dresses, underwear, diamond bracelets and sixty thousand dollar watches.

There was one scene that I found completely ridiculous. She has this state of the art kitchen.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Escape! October 8, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
After reading these reviews, I had to chime in. I read this book a few months ago and became totally engrossed in the characters and story. To me it was a great fantasy and escape from every day life. That is one of the reasons we read fiction, right? If I wanted the truth I'd read non-fiction. The characters are likeable and flawed all in one. I can't wait for the next installment!

A Taste of You by Sorcha Grace

First in the Epicurean trilogy

2.5 stars (maybe)

Catherine Kelly has changed her last night and left her home in California to start over in Chicago. She’s starting over as a food photographer with the help of her trusty best friend Beckett. When Cat takes on a job that unexpectedly leads her to meeting a gorgeous man she nicknames “Stormy Eyes”. William Lambourne is one of the world’s wealthiest man and the most eligible bachelor in Chicago. He takes pleasure in food and women. As Cat’s past haunts her, she uncovers deep secrets of William’s own past that could tear them apart. Apparently this is going to be a trilogy. I honestly don’t see the point in this, but Ms. Grace decided to throw us a plot line towards the end. This is what I consider to be my first official delve into erotica. There’s hardly any plot and what little plot there is isn’t really developed until the end of the novel. I’m not really sure if I liked it or not. There were a few things that bothered me about A Taste of You, but hardly anything happened for me to make an opinion. I guess I could make an opinion on the sex. I’ll do that towards the end.

The main female character is Catherine or Cat. I personally didn’t really like her, but she had redeeming moments. She realizes that something isn’t all right with William. I applaud her for this. Too bad she didn’t follow up on her intuition and ran away. Why didn’t she run? Well, her best friend has a few lovely words to say about Cat’s “crazy” suspicions.
Here’s Cat’s suspicion of William “It feels like an invasion of privacy. I didn’t even know this guy a few days ago. He was a stormy-eyed stranger I met on the street. And now, he’s buying me shoes and jewelry?
