So here's the path that we coffee snobs took to Taster's Choice. My husband and I have had two espresso machines. The first was cheap and made great-tasting lattes, much better than Charbucks -- but it only lasted three years. The second was more expensive and, sadly, we never got it to produce anything as good as the first machine. To make matters worse, I had grown tired of cleaning up the mess after each use. I was hopeful when Starbucks introduced VIA, but no matter what strength/flavor I used, it was so harsh (acidic?) that it messed up my stomach. It cost a fortune to boot.

Luckily, good fortune was just around the corner. About a year ago, while visiting some relatives, we were introduced to these little gems. Now I just put 8 oz. milk in the microwave for 2:30, stir in one of these, add a little sugar, and voila -- a latte that's almost as good as what our old espresso machine made, with no mess to clean up. If you use lactose-free milk, you can use even less sugar since the lactose has already been broken down into sugar that you can taste. This product is already much cheaper than regular Starbucks or VIA, but if you can find the large plastic containers of crystals rather than these individual packets, your cost per serving will drop even more.

Bottom line: if you are looking for an inexpensive way to have tasty coffee drinks at home without the mess of an espresso machine, this might just fit the bill.

I would give 5 stars for the flavor, I really do like this blend, but wish they would just package it the way they used to instead of making me pay extra for something I actually don't want.

I know that fewer and fewer people like this particular blend of nescafe, because it's getting harder and harder to find. I used to buy the regular containers in my supermarket, but then they stopped stocking it. Thank heavens for amazon, I thought, and ordered it here. But now they no longer stock the regular containers, you can only get these prepackaged lots. It's unfortunate, because I like a heaped teaspoon of coffee but these packets only measure out to a regular teaspoon. So essentially I want one and a half packets. Which is just all wrong. But I do love the flavor, so I'm trying these packets and hope it works out. Or better yet, that they restock the original containers. Nothing wrong with them!

Ok, here is the truth - this freeze dried coffee is GOOD. Long time ago (maybe 20 yrs) I tried the freeze dried stuff and thought it was a bit on the bitter side in taste, so never tried it again. So here I am, years later writing Taster's Choice parent company asking for samples. They sent me a few, and boy was I blown away at how tasty the Vanilla and Hazlenut flavors were. I ended up gong to the local Walmart and cleaned their shelf of these flavors. Yes, that is how well I liked this coffee. HOWEVER, as tasty as this stuff is, there is a down side...

The reviews on amazon are correct, in that the size of the individual packets are RIDICULOUSLY small. This is why I am giving a four star rating instead of a five star. Be forewarned - if you want a typical 8-oz cup of this coffee in the morning, you WILL have to use two full packets to achieve the taste of a regular strength of coffee. Having said that, know that you are told on the box of this product that you are buying a TWENTY COUNT box. In reality, it is a TEN COUNT box. Who do you know only drinks 6-oz of coffee in their cup each morning? That is what the packets are - 6 oz! I do not, repeat, do not like strong coffee, so even I would have to complain that this company needs to stop pre-packing for a 6-oz cup. Nescafe needs to sell this product in a single jar container so that customers can choose how much coffee to stir in their cup each day.

Its all about profit, I know. But if Nescafe wants to truly listen to customers, then they will stop pre-packing such small quantities and let the consumer have this product in a larger container. I will pay for it anyway, but atleast stop pre-measuring for me.

The new recipe tastes terrible! I am canceling my subscription. They changed the outside packaging and also the recipe. The coffee now has a strong, unpleasant after taste. I don't usually leave reviews but I drank a ton of this coffee and could never find any other that I liked nearly as much (because buying this one in individual packets was a pain). It wasn't broke, why did you 'fix' it?? So disappointed!!!

It's supposedly a "delicious new blend", but it sucks! Granted, the original was a little weak. I had started using two sticks per cup in order to get the most out of the flavor, but I could definitely taste the hazelnut in the old blend.

I can barely taste the hazelnut in the new blend! I'm so disappointed! Up to this point, Taster's Choice Hazelnut was the only flavored instant coffee that I actually liked. (I never really liked their vanilla flavor). I'm probably going to end up weaning myself down from two cups to one cup a day because I don't like the new blend.

Ack! They've ruined it. I loved the pre-2015 Tasters Choice hazelnut. It was pretty much the only coffee I drank. But now it's "a delicious new blend". Not so delicious, IMO. Much more like the regular Tasters Choice, which raises the question: why? After I finish my current supply -- I had bought 4 boxes at Target -- I'm unlikely to ever buy it again.

Having tried all of the Taster's Choice single pack offerings, I would say that the Hazelnut is my favorite because I've always like hazelnut flavored coffees. I also like the VANILLA STICKS but don't find the flavor as intense as the hazelnut's. A flavored, brewed coffee has a more intense and better flavor and has a more effective caffeine jolt, but the Taster's Choice instant is good in its own right.
One problem with these coffee packets is that adding too much water can dillute the taste enough to produce a bland tasting hot beverage. Were I to drink these as my morning coffee, I'd need to make at least three cups to get me going.

Mostly I drink these as an after nap cup of coffee at home or as a pick me up cup of coffee at work. It's just far too inconveniet to brew a single cup of coffee at work and have to fool with the cleanup. Heating a cup of water in the microwave only takes two minutes or less. Occasionally I'll make instant coffee on Saturday, the one day of the week I work in the A.M.

Cons:
1. I don't care for all the wasteful, extra packaging, and tearing open a single packet envelope while half awake in an unwelcome introduction to the day. Sometimes it's easier just to cut it open with scissors.

2. I also am not crazy about the small serving size of individual cups. A jar of coffee would be much preferable, but for whatever reasons Nescafe has chosen to go the single serving route.

Finally: I like Nescafe Taster's Choice Vanilla instant coffee and enjoy it as an occasional treat. You might also enjoy it if you don't mind instant coffee.

A new look brought along a new taste.... and it's not a hazelnut one..... it's stronger now. I used to drink it for years and years, just because it didn't have that regular coffee taste. Well now that's over 😞

I have to start by saying I am a "picky" coffee drinker and instant coffee was never found in my home. I received an offer for a free sample and I thought oh what the heck so I tried it and actually found it to be very good. It is the best tasting instant that I have ever had. It is nice to have this in the house for those times you just don't want to make a whole pot, I grab one of my larger coffee cups and two packages of Taster's Choice and I enjoy a nice strong cup of coffee.

I'm a coffee snob, and also a coffee addict. This changed my mind about instant coffee.

I travel and work in lots of places where coffee is sometimes not convenient, fresh, or simply not available. I can literally tell what time of day it is by my caffeine withdrawal headaches if I miss my usual 9am, 3pm, and 6pm dose.

These little guys are actually quite good, and super easy to carry. I keep them in luggage, in my car, pocket, etc. I carry a couple of them with me- as fellow addicts are always grateful that I share. LOL. One may not always be able to find coffee, but hot water is often available. Alas, I've been in situations so desperate I've even added these to room temp bottled water!! (was actually not too bad if shaken vigorously, but it needs hot water to fully dissolve)

Starbucks via is good, but indeed overpriced. For as often as I need something like this, Tasters choice is the way to go, and it's enjoyable. If you factor cost, convenience, and taste, it's a no brainer.

This won't be the most incredible cup of brew you've ever had, but it's so much better than none!!!

P.S The Colombian is much richer and tastier then the regular TC red box version.
