I just received this book last Friday and I've already made the Pumpkin Pie (I have a pumpkin fetish and have been knitting little pumpkins and dreaming of the return of my favorite season... Fall!!) The patterns are cute (as pie, of course!) and easy to follow and you can easily glam them up with special yarns. I've already bought some yummy dark red lambs wool and a frothy creamy white yarn to create a Red Velvet Cake Slice from the chocolate cake pattern. I even bought some small brown beading "nuts" to sew onto the frosting. The patterns are divided up into breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert. They are great gifts for all ages and just plain fun to make. Just the idea of crocheting an asparagus stalk cracks me up!

I've casually collected food patterns for years from internet and magazines and this is the best crochet food collection I've ever seen. This book goes beyond the typical doughnut or cupcake and includes many unexpected items, like tacos and pita pockets with falafels. The details are fabulous without being overwhelmingly difficult. For example, the pizza has olives, peppers and even sauce! The salami sandwich pattern isn't just salami and bread, it's got the whole works -- cheese, lettuce and tomato. If you like crocheting food, you won't be disappointed with this book.

I absolutely love this book! The pictures are amazing and the instructions are very clear and simple. I'm new to crocheting so I was worried this would be too advanced for me but it's perfect. There are even pictures in the back that show you each stitch and technique. If you're a beginner looking for a book that's more than just basic blankets and scarves, I'd recommend this one.

This book is both adorable and useful. I definitely considered myself a beginning crocheter prior to trying any of these patterns: I had made a few baby hats, knew the basic stitches and knew how to interpret pattern abbreviations. Working through Tasty Crochet is allowing me to make cute play food items for my daughter's upcoming 2nd birthday, but it is also helping me to become better at crochet in general. The patterns are very easy to understand and, after making several of the items, I notice myself starting to generalize and predict how the next pattern will go. Most items have taken me between 30 minutes and a couple hours to complete (and I consider myself a slow crocheter and am usually multi-tasking-- also watching a movie, etc.). This is perfect for those who like to finish projects quickly or don't have the attention span for large items such as blankets or clothing. I love that I get to experiment with different yarns and colors, varying my results, and that I'm making something I know will be loved and used for years to come. More than worth the $13.59 Amazon is currently charging; it's a bargain!

Bought this book to teach my Grandaughter how to crochet and it has worked beautifully. To keep her interest I thought I would try this "cute" little book. It worked, she is becoming very proficient in her crocheting and like me, cannot wait to start a new project from it. I must admit, I have made several items but the one I get the most requests for are the Apple and the Pumpkin Pie. The Chocolate Chip Cookies were really a "hit".. She is on her 3rd cookie already. This book is well worth the price! And, What Fun, Fun, Fun....Kudos to the author on this one.

I have a wide variety of patterns for crochet/knit food-type items that I obtained either free on the internet or through purchase. This book contains a variety of patterns, ranging from breakfast items to desserts. It's great! The items offered in this book make lovely gifts for little ones. They don't require the use of staples, pins, etc. or anything that might be harmful to little ones. This treasure is a great gift for a crafty friend or for yourself. Buy it; you won't regret the purchase.

I made several of the different foods for my 4 year old granddaughter for her birthday. Her eyes just lit up when she saw them. In fact I will continue to use the book to make more for her. I especially like the simple instructions. How quick each of the projects are. The book is a great way to use up that left over yarn everyone has laying around!

I've only had the Tasty Crochet book for a couple of weeks (a birthday present from my teenager), but I've already made several items, including a pear, an apple, a carrot and a fried egg. My son loved the chocolate chip cookies I made him and how I presented them to him on a china plate. And after he saw me make a standard mushroom, he asked me if I could do a red Mario-style one, so I did, using this book's mushroom pattern as my base. (See photo I posted in the gallery.)Overall, the projects are both fun and quick. The longest I took was maybe 90 minutes...for the carrot, but some projects only took about 30 minutes to do. I imagine some of the projects that have several parts, like the PB&J sandwich might take longer. The instructions are clear and the photos are wonderful. I love how the food is often photographed with real food. I can get hungry just looking at the photos! I have found it is easier to use the magic ring for the starting ring of sc, rather than crocheting into a starting chain as the instructions say, but that's just a personal preference for me. In any case, I highly recommend this book for anyone who enjoys crocheting quick fun projects.

I bought this book to make some gifts for my niece's. They recently got a little kitchen, and I thought these would be just perfect! The patterns are so easy to work up and understand, and the end product is adorable. It takes you back to being a little kid again, and little one's eyes are sure to light up upon recieving such a fun gift.

This book is great! Just what I've been looking for! I've been wanting to crochet my daughter play food and found some free patterns online but was so excited when this book came out with tons of fun food to crochet... and it looks realistic! I'm deffinetly glad I've added this book to my collection of crochet books.
