Book Description

7 and upDoll Hospital
In the tradition of American Girl, each book in this series is a clever mix of past and present that brings a different era to life through a story told from the perspective of a beloved doll.

Sisters Lila and Rose, ages 8 and 10, are spending the year with their eccentric grandmother (who runs a doll hospital) while their parents are working out of the country. The girls are not pleased with this arrangement, but they begin to enjoy themselves when they learn that their grandmother has a special power to "read" the lives of the dolls she is working to restore. In each book in this series, their grandmother tells the girls the story of a different doll.

In this book we meet Tatiana, a doll who travels to Ellis Island with her owner, a Russian girl named Anya. (continued)

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Doll Story with Historical Info, October 23, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Tatiana Comes to America: An Ellis Island Story (Doll Hospital, No. 1) (Paperback)
My daughter Emily and I enjoyed Doll Hospital together. The two interwoven plot lines worked well. One tells the modern-day tale of Rose and Lila who live with their grandmother and discover her doll hospital. The other is the story the doll that is being repaired in the doll hospital tells about her history and how she came to be damaged. It's funny, but has sad moments as well. We were both sorry when the book ended. Looking forward to more books in the series.

At first, it didn't look that good, but after I started to read it, it got really, really good. I think my Mom would like this book too. (By Katrina, age 8.)
