My smart springer spaniel used to sneak on the couch at night but after hearing this beep a couple of times she knew she was "caught". I left it on the couch for a couple of weeks to reinforce her behavior and have not had to use it since.
As a bonus, the device (set on high) would also pick up on her bark and go off. I set it on a window sill that the dog looked out of and now she no longer barks as stray dogs, passers-by, etc. My only complaint about the device is that there is no way to turn it off without it going off.

Sure Didn't Work for My Cats,
By MS (Rapid City, SD) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Tattle Tale - Vibration Pet Trainer (Misc.)
I was very hopeful that this product would keep my two cats off our dining room table. Nothing has worked in the past -- neither sprays of water, nor aluminum foil, nor scolding them, nor citrus smells -- nothing.
Here's what happened when I set up the Tattle Tale alarm. Cat 1 jumps on the table. The alarm (which lasts only 2 seconds and is relatively quiet -- my microwave beep is louder than this) sounded. Cat 1 is on guard at first, then curious. He walks over to it. The "alarm" remains silent, even though it's supposed to be sensitive to any and all movement. Cat 1 swipes at alarm. It sounds and stops. He swats again, and it sounds and stops again. Then, he walks around the table for a while while the alarm sits silently. Finally, he curls up for a nap on one of our placemats about 4 inches away from it. Cat number 2, intrigued by the sound, hops up on the table. The alarm sounds. She goes over to it. Although she's sniffing it, prancing around the table, and stretching, it doesn't sound again. So she curls up for a nap as well. And there I am, watching the "Tattle Tale" oversee the afternoon siesta of the two felines it was supposed to scare off. My guess is that it's not sensitive to most of the vibrations caused by cats' paws and that the 2-second, relatively soft sound of the alarm is not frightening enough to scare cats away. Even cats more skittish than mine, I imagine, could easily tolerate the benign beep eminating from this device. Don't waste your money. I burned $6 on shipping and now have to pay a 25% restocking fee. And the cats are still on the table.

Doesn't bother the cats or dogs a bit.,
By Gayle (Wisconsin) - See all my reviews

Well, this does emit a loud piercing sound, but only for a few seconds...long enough to make the dogs and cats look around, but as soon as they get a bit bothered, the sound quits. I think that this product might work IF it beeped longer. It was a total waste of money for me. Now I'm just passing it around the office as a prank...it's a hoot to use at work as a joke on unsuspecting coworkers.

It sounds like a description of a bad date: Hypersensitive and shrieks at the slightest disturbance. But for this product, that's just what you want. (Anybody who thinks theirs is quiet probably just needs a fresh battery!) It's a fairly simple device. My cats hate it, even though they're not the reason I bought one -- I'm using it as an automated warning to my kids that they're playing too rough near my computers.
For my purposes, it would be especially useful if there was an adjustment not just for low or high sensitivity, but for vibration frequency for which it sounds an alert. Motion with a high frequency (like touching it) sets it off, but I can rock the shelf its on without setting it off. To use a water analogy, it's like the difference between the ripples coming out from a pebble thrown into a lake versus ocean waves, and I need sensitivity for the latter. Having that sort of adjustment would earn this more stars from me, but for its intended purpose it seems to work excellently.

My dogs quickly learned that if they carefully got on the couch that they might not trip the alarm. So I attached the Tattle Tale to a Yard stick with adhesive Velcro and now it is the best. No more dogs on the couch!!!! YEA!

Usually my cats are well behaved, but sometimes something triggers and they make the "first mistake" on a piece of furniture, and then no matter how much I clean it or spray it with "keep away" or whatever, I ultimately end up getting rid of the piece of furniture.
Recently they made the first mistake on an antique leather chair that was once in my great grandfather's library, and I couldn't give up. After thorough cleaning, I put one of these Tattle Tales on the chair and waited. I heard the piercing alarm, I heard the sounds of cat retreat, and then silence. I walked up and put the cat on the chair, and away he ran. This is the first piece of furniture that has survived the "first mistake". The chair has been left alone for a month now. I'm very happy.

Works just like it should...really!,

I read through all the other reviews prior to purchasing this product and after picking through a lot of conflicting opinions, I decided to get a pair and see for myself. Result: they work perfectly. My wife and I have a rat terrier that sheds just enough to leave evidence every time he camped out on the couches while we were away (not to mention the saliva and food stains when he would drag a bone up). From the first day we started using the Tattle Tales, he has stayed away from the couches unless invited up.
Why does the device work for us and not for others? To begin with, our dog is pretty skittish around mechanical devices. Our couches are fairly firm too so they transmit vibrations from the outer ends a little better than perhaps some others. I read in the reviews how some people's animals didn't bat much of an eyelash at the Tattle Tale going off and how the devices did sound the alarm when their pet jumped on the other end of the couch. Frankly, I think how well this device works really depends on your pets and the furniture you are setting them on. I would say if you want to try to keep your pet off something, give one of these devices a shot. They are well designed and just because they don't work for some people, doesn't mean they don't work. Additional thought: this is a $20 something device. You get what you pay for. If you want the protection and vigilance of a security guard, perhaps you should invest in one of them instead.

Not that great,
This review is from: Tattle Tale - Vibration Pet Trainer (Misc.)
This product didn't turn out to be worth the money I paid for it. We have a 3-cushion leather couch that we've been trying to keep our dog off of. I decided to purchase the tattle tale instead of the long pad alarm because I thought it would be less space-consuming and more easy to take off and put on the couch. What I found is that it's only effective on the cushion that it's placed on - even when the sensitivity level is placed on high. The alarm doesn't go off when someone sits on either of the other two cushions. So my dog just parked himself on the cushions that didn't have the tattle tale on them. In addition to this shortcoming, the alarm goes off when there's a loud noise, including a sneeze. So it goes off when it shouldn't and doesn't go off when it should. Unless you plan on buying one tattle tale for each of your sofa cushions or it's just a chair, I don't recommend this as a solution.

Pet trainer Vibration,
By
This review is from: Tattle Tale - Vibration Pet Trainer (Misc.)
I have 2 cats and they love to lounge on my suede couch so I bought his vibration pet trainer to keep them off. It works pretty well and the noise do keep them off the couch. HOWEVER, it's a 3 seater couch so 1 device is not enough to keep them off. I would need 2 and spread them out, otherwise, the cats will jump on whichever side of the couch that's not effected.

My dog hates this contraption and that makes us love it. It really works and it scares him half to death. He's 110# pit/mastiff mix and whoa this makes him running! Thanks for a good product.
