okay, now this book has possibilities...as an artist I am very picky, but this one has some redeeming styles and art (and some typical flash along with more innovative things) I would suggest it to anyone unsure of the type of tattoo they might want-it gives them lots of ideas, and also to someone looking for an interresting table book to flip through. Colorful.

TERRIBLE tattoo designs! Please don't waste your money!,
By Tattoo Artist (USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Tattoo Sourcebook (Paperback)
Okay, I've looked at everything in this book, and I have to say that 95% of these designs are just god-awful. There are a few that are well done (Shane O'Neill has some great work) but overall this book is a waste of time. As a tattoo artist, I found the majority of the work sub-par. If anyone came into my tattoo shop with something out of this book, I would have to totally re-design the tattoo in order to make it presentable to the public (which defeats the purpose of a "sourcebook"). I am appalled that most of these artists even put their names next to designs of this caliber.
The only redeeming point of this atrocity is the information about tattooing (history of , aftercare, etc.)in the introduction, but is only for the tattoo novice. Stay away, for the love of god!

This is a great book for a tattoo artist it has a lot of cool stuff in there a good money maker a client of mine gave me this book and it is great. It breaks a lot of stuff down if you are a tattoo artist it is a big help is has many different styles of tattoo art from bio mech to traditional styles for as cheap as it is it beat a lot of the garbage that's out there

i own this book and i have been tattooing for only a couple of years. I usually draw up alot of custom work, but i bought this book cuz when i was starting out i didn't have a whole lot of flash and it was a very good starter book especially for the price if you are also apprenticing or just starting out. i still use it today as my clients really do like the designs in it.
you name it, the book has it. celtic knotwork, irish tattoos (yes there's both celtic and irish sections in the book, they didn't just group them all together), kanji, tribal, biker, zodiac, florals, japanese, etc... the only downside i can think of is the lettering in the book.. not a whole lot of lettering styles in this book. but amazon and other tattoo supply websites have tons of lettering books avail. out there, so i'm not disappointed for that.. the other downside is that there is no graffiti designs in this book. but again, internet and google are wonderful things for you to use to search out some graff flash or create your own. another con is that there are not hardly any gangsta art/cholo etc.. so if you are a fan of Boog like i am, you are going to be disappointed in that respect...but google, you'll find some. or save your $ and buy boog's book. Lowrider Arte magazine is also a great magazine for the cholo art too. i have tattooed designs out of this book and i have also customized them further to clients liking.. the one thing i love about the book is that i can take the design i like (which i can do w/ any other book out there too of course) and further expand off of it... mix and match, etc... great book, tons of designs, you won't be disappointed if you buy it, trust me. i paid about $20 for it on sale at barnes & noble. it's def worth more then that. i don't think i would pay no more then $50 for it.

This book is great for you to get ideas. It is not to just copy and print. This will help you mix your art for a better piece. A lot better than the old cherry creek and old reused art that many clients have to see when looking at flash.
