5.0 out of 5 stars A luscious full-color and colorful history of tattooing, September 3, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: The Tattooists (Hardcover)
"The Tattooists" is a luscious full-color and colorful history of tattooing. Beautiful photos of tattoos (large and small), the artists, and their human canvases. Tales of the origins, artists, shops and people (from salty sailors to winsome women) who sport this fascinating art may have you searching for a tattooist in your neighborhood! Morse's conversational style is very interesting to read -- and of course, there are the wonderful photos. (Note: Some tasteful nudity.) I wish there was a second version, with today's artistic styles, as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars AN INCREDIBLE JOURNEY INTO THE PAST OF TATTOOING, May 9, 2010
This review is from: The Tattooists (Hardcover)
This was the first book on tattoos that I purchased as a teenager in 1977. I found this book recently in my old book collection. WHAT A FIND!!!

I would recommend purchasing this book at the above price. Give it 5-10 years, and you will have an investment worth the name of collectible. The pictures are outstanding. Many of the artists in this book have past away. Seeing Ed Hardy in his youth was a treat for me to experience. I only wish I knew if Bob Oslon, a featured artist, was still with us. I worked with him in Chicago for four years. This man had a heart of gold. I liked him a great deal because of his outstanding tattoo work, but above all his giving personality. I could only hope that Bob overcame his demons. He was a gret artist that helped me learn tattooing. I am dedicating this review to Bob. If anyone out there knows Bob, please contact me.
