WYSIWYG - What you see is what you get., December 8, 2008
This review is from: Tauchmeister T0012N XL Automatic (self-winding) Military Dive Watch (Watch)
I bought the model with the black quadrant, but mine looks and costs exactly liks this one, although I am curious to know how the white quadrant glows at night, since the numbers on mine are bright enough you could use them for night reading.
This watch is as advertised. Looks impressive from a distance, a little less so on close examination. Works reasonably well (my only complaint is that if you are lethargic it stops, i.e. the charge reserve is not great, say maybe 12-15 hrs).
I was impressed by the quality of the leather strap which is massive and nicely finished. What gives away the bluff is that the date window is comparatively very close to the center of the watch, revealing that the movement inside is way smaller than the case. But at least it's an automatic movement, it's almost inaudible but I like the fact that it goes tic-tac tic-tac instead than tok... tok... tok... like the quartz ones.
Anyway, the watch is so big that a) you won't have problems reading the hour (but you will have a problem with the date) and b) people will ask you whether you are going to wear an hourglass next. I own several watches, I would not buy this watch as my one watch, but if you are like me and want several different watches for a reasonable price rather than the $5k one you will be buried with, go for it. Needless to say I wouldn't really use this as a scuba watch, if you have these kinds of plans you are looking at something that is at least one order of magnitude too cheap.
It delivers for the money, so I am a happy camper.
